Sorry if I posted in the wrong category. Can someone please explain to me the differences between an OBE and a lucid dream?
Lucid dreams only occur during sleep while OBEs can occur when you're awake as well.
OBEs always involve a feeling of being outside your physical body while this isn't always the case in lucid dreams.
In my opinion OBEs are just lucid dreams and because lucid dreams can be extreamly realistic people think they are out of there bodies.(It's just my opinion)
So OBE's are just very realistic lucid dreams? And if they involve the feeling of being outside your physical body how do you wake up from them?
First, keep in mind that the only answers you will get are opinions.
In my 16 years of experience with both, I'd say the main differences between lucid dreams and OBEs are the quality of one's consciousness and the environment or level of reality being experienced. There are also differences in the means of producing these experiences. There have been many past threads covering this topic.
Here's an interesting one: http://www.dreamviews.com/beyond-dre...cid-dream.html
If we're just talking about definitions, there's another difference. Lucid dreams are typically associated with normal sleep. OBE's are reported during sleep, but also in other situations like near-death, surgery with general anesthesia, trance, drug-altered states, and so on.
