I was wondering, how does it make you view the world now, like for example in regards to the all the suffering/injustice, etc?
It has not affected me much from a suffering/social injustice perspective. It actually re-inforces my perspective that if you want something bad enough, work for it.... like trying to LD. And life just ain't fair...some people are natural lucid dreamers....although many had to suffer nightmares early on to achieve it. Since anyone can theoretically learn to LD, this is something incredible you can achieve regardless of money or lack of privilege or opportunities, if you pursue it. So I am not sure why you were thinking LDs might influence your social conscious. I am learning thru LDs that I am pretty selfish and seek gratification of desires more than I care to admit, so maybe I will wrestle with the inner me and come out a better person eventually, but I can't really count on that.
Well for me, it was a way to learn how to know whether the world was real or not, then it became somewhere to have fun at and study, then something in which to develop certain abilities further, and currently trying to find new ways to use these dreams. Basically, found a box with an infinite number of possibilities to work with and not get bored, ever.
I was wondering, does lucid dreaming make us more selfish?
I don't know if you would call it selfishness, but a lot of times I have refused to go out for a "pointless" social gathering, because I have had plans to put all the effort possible on getting a lucid dream. Like friends go out partying and I stay home and go to sleep at ten o clock probably leading them to think I'm no fun etc. A little bit out of context with this quote, but still regarding the situations Iv at least been into because of my love for lucid dreaming : " But when you’re out there partying, horsing around, someone out there at the same time is working hard. Someone is getting smarter and someone is winning " ( Arnold Schwarzenegger ). I'm confident and I know what is more important to me. That's all that matters.
Hmm... otherwise personally no.
