Ive read in many forums and some books that this technique, if practiced well and long enough can make you induce lucid dreams at will. Is this true? Im wanting to focus on this technique because of all the hype ive read around it.

there is no one fits all technique. like you already said. you have read in several forums and books that its working for some people. so try for yourself for several weeks constantly and find it out for you.
in my opinion when its done correctly its working pretty well without too much nightwork.
Regardless of that hype, Ignaraph, there is no technique that will enable you to induce LD's at will; that kind of skill must come from you, and not from the techniques.
That said, in my opinion MILD is still an excellent technique, especially for beginners. This is because it covers many of the bases for successful LD'ing (i.e., RC's, memory work, recall, mantras, etc). So it is well worth learning and practicing the technique anyway, even if you finally settle on something else that works better for you.
I guess i will give it a try for a whole month and see the results. Thanks for the answers
