Supernatural agents/spirit beings in LUCID dreams

Greetings all. I am working on a paper on non-self characters in lucid dreams. I am specifically interested in spirit beings or supernatural agents (SAs) in lucid dreams. My impression is that they occur fairly often in my dreams and when they do they have a special kind of autonomous character to them. Can I ask: How often do SAs occur in your lucid dreams? Can you recount a recent lucid dream that you have had with an SA in it? When they occur what do they say? Have you ever asked them “Are you real or are you just a figment of my dreaming brain? Can you prove that you are real?” What have they done to prove that they are real? Thanks ALL for any insights you can give me on this…By the way would you classify yourself as a non-believer/atheist or a believer in SAs? Thanks again

Not every character who appears in religious clothing is a exemplar of peak autonomy and novelty. All tho they do seem to be as a whole more complex than your average dream character for whatever reason, perhaps they are representations or extensions of a particularly creative or emotionally charged unconscious centre, part, or complex. They are as a whole for myself a rare event and most often occur randomly, perhaps once in 50, maybe even more.

Yes I have often asked them what their ontological basis is, of course this is the first thing that comes to mind, the hope of proof of a metaphysical realm or beings is strong in me, it would be a great consolation to be personally assured of the existence of other equally real states of existence which would prove personal immortality. This may be asking a lot. Even if a dream character showed up riding a chariot made of purple plasma and then gave a profound dissertation on the structure of the unseen realms of existence, the purpose of existence, moral imperatives, and basically everything you would expect a higher being to say, there is no way to prove to others or even yourself after the fact what this event actually meant, what was its source.

This has been my case. Due to the fickle nature of memory in even lucid dreams sometimes, especially in reference to conversations, I cannot remember in detail exactly what was said. Excuse my lack of direct quotes, but here is one conversation that stood out in particular. I walk into a garage, there are two gentlemen standing in the corner speaking to each other. A conversation gets started and what unfolds is one of the most vivid and singular occasions I recall from my lucid dreaming career. What first drew my surprise was the apparent friendliness of the two individuals toward each other, their naturalness, the way they looked at one another and smiled when I asked certain questions, the way one worked off what the other was just saying. Any way, they told me over a time period of perhaps five minutes things which amazed me by their clearness and continuity, things often lacking in dream conversations. They said that the dream world was centred in the middle of at least 4 distinct universes, a bit like a segmented plus sign. We on this plane exist in the universe underneath this centre, they said that our place in this configuration was why lucid dreaming was so rare and why our dream life was so hard to remember, something about a natural buffer whose purpose and effect was to separate this universe from those above it. They themselves said they were from one of the universes which were horizontal in relation to the centre 'dream' universe and thus they were able to enter it with ease and perfect clarity any time they wished, which explained their casual attitude to the situation. They assured me that they were in fact real beings with consciousnesses all their own and did not exist only in my brain.

It should be said that I at this time had some knowledge of occult and hermetic theory, not unlike what was explained to me in this dream situation. I do not know if I should account for this by saying that these beings were simply restating and confirming what occultists have actually already known, or it was my unconscious retelling these theories in the guise of two average looking men in a garage. There has been other situations, one where I met a monk walking down the rode, the gist of this conversation was 'of course I am real'. There have been other times where similar things have happened, but I simply can only recall the conversations in the most general way, nor do I have access to my original notes due to them being lost in a move some time ago to my great regret.

I am sorry I cannot give you more detail about those apparently religious figures I have met, other than the fact that yes I have met them and they most often have a seemingly high intelligence and proclaim their own self-awareness. My visual recall is much greater than my audio, which is not ideal as one can imagine, especially when I awake with shadows of profound things rattling around in the background of my mind, then see them like a column of steam dissolving into the atmosphere taking whatever numinous and specific truths with it.

I most closely Identify with Buddhist philosophy, but I do also have a inclination to western occultism as I said. As for my belief on the after life, this wavers constantly, one day I think it is true, and the next I do not.
      Saizaphod and Gyalogos like this.

I have had dreams about Jesus Christ, one in particular that was very powerful and left me waking up feeling strong emotions. However, I cannot prove that this was an actual encounter with Jesus; in fact, when I look back on it, I think it likely was not. More likely to be reflective of my state of mind at that time, as well as the religious culture in which I was raised, and the doubts I was experiencing at that time. I am agnostic about the existence of supernatural entities as well as the existence of God. However, when it comes to lucid dreams, I think it's a good bet that the characters who appear in the dreams are a product of the brain rather than actual entities that exist independently of the brain. Of course, I cannot prove this either. There have been cases in which people have had premonitions about future events in dreams. I do not know if there are "entities" involved in these premonitions, or if they are strange functions of the brain that science has not yet discovered, or if they are just mere coincidences. That's my take on it.

I have encountered entities that can be considered supernatural. I do come across spirits quite a bit in my dreams, by spirits I mean guides, deceased spirits, as well as other unseen hyperconscious entities. I don't particularly see any religious figures in my dreams since I'm agnostic. In fact, I got in touch with my spirit guides first through dreams before becoming aware of them in my waking reality. My deceased significant other embodies dream characters and be part of the dreams even when I am not lucid, so she's the most frequent supernatural entity I encounter. I'll try to go out of my way to meet other entities beside my significant other when I become lucid and try asking them to prove themselves as a lucid task. A lot of times when I become lucid I just let it go thinking "not in the mood to put the effort into lucid dream right now" and let it go. That's one of the main reason my lucid count is so low. I'm a little too critical about keeping track of my lucid dreams. I don't coult semi-lucid dreams and dreams I become lucid and decide to let go as lucids. That and my unstable sleep pattern. Nonetheless, It might be a cool experiment to try.

I have not particularly asked any of the entities to prove themselves. The most common factor is how hyperconscious they are. Deceased spirits often mention stuff that validates themselves in waking life later and as far as my significant other goes she's always with me as an unofficial spirit guide of sorts - we are in constant communication though doubt of whether she is a thought-form I created to cope nags at me from time to time to which she promptly scolds me lovingly. I don't know how common it is for these entities to come into our dream states. Al I know is that it's a common occurrence for me. I have had precognitive dreams since I was little and I am a channel in-training for personal development as well. Dreams by themselves even when we are not lucid is a very receptive state, more receptive than highly meditative states.

"As for my belief on the after life, this wavers constantly, one day I think it is true, and the next I do not". This is off...but...: Lets play. You must choose: 1. The I AM is the reality and is "outside" time-space, ergo: immortal. 2. The I AM is mortal, ergo: life is meaningless (not counting humans arbitrarily meanings), and the nothing is real (even if nobody ever experienced or imagined the nothing). If you choose wrong...you die. I would choose number 1. without batting an eyelid. Immortality feels so natural for me.

I realize this is an old post but I am new to the site and have something to add to this.

I began lucid dreaming as a by product of ritual work I did in the occult in my early 20's.
In that time I have on occasion ran into 'players' in my dreams that did not respond as they should have and made attempts to hijack the dream experience.
To preface before I go on, when I dream I am capable of altering any aspect of a dream or actor in the dream and only on these few occasions when an actor did not comply with my Will did I discover that the entity in the dream may not have been of my own creation.
I realize that sounds crazy and I am willing to accept that perhaps the entities were simply manifestations of my own deeper subconscious that I did not have access to.

With that said, I have found that the negative entities that fit this description invariably follow a pattern.
They always try to flow the dream in a way that subtly frustrates my Will in the dream, almost always in a direction that tries to elicit fear.
They always try to remain hidden, not part of the dream at first.
If I push to reveal them, they always try to wake me up rather than confront me in the dream.
I had a very difficult time overcoming this as these types of dreams only happened years ago when I was new to the whole experience.
Once I did overcome their wake up trick, they would try to hide in the dream, as another actor or even as a location itself.
I learned a technique that would force them to revert to a neutral form, once they were exposed and were unable to wake me, I could have my way with them. It was always a game in the dream for me, to seek them out and discover them, expose them, and then do with them as I pleased. Once I was aware and in possession of them in the dream state, I would not allow them to leave. I would torment them and eventually banish them out of my dreams. Most never came back for seconds after that.
Some have, You ask if I have ever spoken with them, and the answer is a bit convoluted.
You see, in my dreams I do not so much verbally interact with them as emotionally or physically interact.
In any dream that did not involve what I termed classically as a dream demon, but some other entity that was not malicious or predatory, there was never a form associated with them. More of a presence that was ‘here’ but did not have a form in the dream. Words were never exchanged just things shown. Vistas or events that would be shown to me, I was left to interpret those however I could. But the ‘good’ or more accurately ‘neutral’ entities never tried to deceive or hide from me. I always get a feel for the actors in my dreams and can tell immediately now if the thing in the dream is or is not of my own creation.

Here is an example of a good encounter,

In the dream I was swinging on a silver luminous cord, like I was in a harness but without a harness and the cord was attached to the small of my back.
I was swinging freely in any direction but there was a definite up and down to the movement, like a pendulum.
Under me, was a vast honeycomb bowl shape, each hexagon of the honeycomb has a moving image in it, like a window to a new place. I could Will myself to drop down as I swung over a particular ‘window’ and thus go into the new place. I could stay in each spot for a few seconds it seemed before the cords elastic bungee nature would pull me out and I would continue swinging.

I don’t know how many windows I took but I remember seeing different planets, empty space, places on Earth, people I knew or knew of both dead and alive, I saw galaxies in some and luminous places made of crystal like structures.

After all of this, I was filled with the impression “I am in the space between material reality”
I awoke with the impression that what I experienced was an extra dimensional being trying to show me how they see our dimension. All things and times in one place, geometrically flowing around themselves.

Well, for what all of this rambling is worth I do feel that there are non-local entities that can and do interact with people, some are good some are bad and some are completely neutral to humans.

This is just my interpretation and I am not trying to convince anyone of anything when it comes to non corporeal entities.
