Not sure if this is supposed to categorise under "Dream Control" but I'll give it a shot here. I've been firing up my lucid dreaming lately and my lucid dreams have become longer and somewhat easier to control.
One of my main goals right now is to meet or summon my dream guide, but I actually have no idea how to do that while lucid.
Anyone got thoughts on the matter or personal experiences they wanna share?
My dream guide does appear to me in dreams but then they are not lucid and I have not summoned them which makes me dubious of the authenticity of their actions and speech. It could be symbolic but it is not a true communication. When I get lucid I always want to fly and explore. To summon my dream guide would be much more beneficial.
That's an interesting occurrence. Do you feel like you might be subconsciously making the dream guide appear by wanting it or feeling like you may need it?
To be honest I've never had recurring characters or other factors in any of my dreams. I've kinda struggled with the whole dream signs idea because of this.
I dunno I just feel like meeting a dream guide could be an incredibly fun or interesting experience. Kinda like having a friend over in another world or something along the likes. I'm also dying to have a chat with a character like that and see what they're like.
If you are already having lucid dreams you definitely have a dream guide. Lucidity itself is a dream guide :). You are right it is a comfort from my relative experience that makes my dream guide appear in a certain form. As the dream gets more vivid and I spend longer on dreamviews the whole dream is speaking to me but I must have some degree of lucidity for this. For my LD count I only count dreams where I know it is absolutely a dream and then have control over my body just like daily life. I have many dreams however than are vivid and communicating something to me. That is pretty much a dream guide especially if there is a lot of clarity and understanding. It seems to be about holding a strong aspect of awareness throughout the night.Quote:

According to Tenzin Wangal this is the best approach as non-lucid dreams are full of interpretations whereas lucid dreams or clear light dreams provide a much more accurate communication.Quote:

What is your definition of dream guide? I should be able to give some pointers depending on what you are looking for. Spirit guide really isnt my thing, but getting helpful ideas and learning about my dream world is normal from my dream guide.

One of the many mysteries of Zödra is that no one has ever made a reference to the old man, nor have I seen him with the other fighters, even though I have seen them all together on many occasions. So, while I don't believe that my dreams are anything more than dreams, I am excited to "learn" about this character in dreams and see what kind of entity he is, since every time I have met me, he looks right at me, while the others only look at me if I force them to accept me. They seem to think of me as less than them since they always know it is a dream and I don't, but he seems to see something else, either knowing that I am the dreamer, being a different version of me from the future, "being a different dreamer in my dreamscape" (since it is a dream world, this actually works in the sense of plot even though I don't think it will happen in waking... if that makes sense).
The best way to have persistent characters is to have a persistent world, while there are a couple ways to have a persistent world. My way was definitely a different way than most, since it acts as a "persistent dream world" still having the properties of dreams being its underlying rules, not properties from a specific thing except my ever evolving idea of what can be in a dream. I did pretty much the same thing as I did with the characters, except instead of it being a character that I see once and connect all the dreams he was in, it is the whole world. an infinite dream land called Zödra that only someone that knows they are dreaming can effect a environment or other DCs permanently.
Others, when creating a persistent world follow pretty basic rules so that the dream doesn't mess with their plots and things stay stable and persistent. The rules are to believe that it is a real place and to have a set entrance.
Real is an interesting choice here, but it fits best. This is one of the reasons that I have chosen to call the two states "waking and dream" as opposed to "real and not real" because if I say that I created a world inside of a computer in my dream and I think of it as a "real place in my dream that only I can get to through dreams" then I can get there the same way I did last time. I have only been able to get back to specific other places a few times, but that is mainly due to a pretty bad ability to remember goals until recently. Since I did the leg work for Zödra while waking, those characters come to me when I am dreaming, even when I am not lucid or in a familiar or specific place.
Some other interesting ways to help solidify a dream character or plot in a dream is a false memory. I don't see other people being able to control this or change this as well as me, but while inside dreams I can easily create false memories about the environment and people, even while 100% lucid on purpose. I can say "Remember that one time when I was a kid and this this this happened in Zödra?" and a fake memory of this thing will rush into my head, making me wonder if it was a dream I had when I was little that I just pulled up and thought of because it was waiting there, or a fake memory that I just created. haha. I personally believe that I can create these memories since there doesn't seem to be a limit to these dreams and I can pull them up easily, but part of me still wonders.

Hey. I'm pretty sure you got your answers from above already but I feel like just sharing my thoughts because i really like these topics.Sorry for the repeated parts you already know. XDFirst thing to keep in mind is they are dream characters. The only difference is the title you give them based on what they do. Which is help you.Second, you can influence them by thinking of the way they are or personality traits. Although, I don't like influencing their actions sometimes i do because I want to change their attitude if it seems unwelcoming. Third, the way they help you and after seems kind of fleeting. You might enjoy the experience but in the end they might just be giving you a small push because you can most likely do it by yourself or get through whatever obstacle seems to be there.Also...I haven't recently experienced any memorable moments with dream guides. I use to have plenty of memorable moments but it feels like I can't recognize that same presence I saw before. I remember watching the eyes of dream guide in the distance,calling them for help, but I don't see a reason to believe in it being an possible entity like I use to think. However, I must admit there were some happy surprises from dream guides.
Now that I think about it I was thinking about dream guides yesterday last night. I ended up having a dream where a black cat appeared with green eyes. I remember the first time that I had tried summoning a dream buddy's guide (jadegreen) she appeared as a black cat. But I think another reason the cat probably appeared is because I feel guides have the presence of a cat.You know how cats just lay there sometimes? Staring off into the distance or looking around slowly. They might meow or make a purr here and there but their not bothered. But than if you do something really alarming it changes their reactions completely? I suppose that's how I see dream characters and guides in the end. Like the presence of a cat except sometimes you can tell quickly that their just illusions of the mind.
Thinking about what I wrote above you might wonder how does this help you with summoning your guide. Well...I wasn't thinking about just the summoning part when writing this. I was thinking about the part after you summon your guide so you kind of see what its like to have the experience with the guides. Its interesting, fun, nice to have persistent guides but also fleeting at times.
It is interesting to remember or write down what the dream guides have done. There are also dream guides in real life. Link them up together and see is there common themes. There are a lot of dream guides at spiritual centres or holy places. In order for them to appear in dreams you are looking to lead a spiritual life where your heart is alive everyday. This does not require much but just to read or study your favourite spiritual texts or videos every day and bring it into your life fully.
What bothers me dreamcafe is whether I just make up that this person is a spiritual person because I like them more or actually do they have those qualities. Those doubts go around in my head. I would like to see all people as equal but yet some seem to have much more connection with me. Those people would also be able to lucid dream, not get angry too much, have clarity in their eyes, be able to say short comments that have a helpful impact and seem to know clearly what I need to do to help myself but they don't say it too often or the next minute they are gone as you say.
I also get this on the dreamviews site. There is a magic about it. It is hard sometimes to keep going with it because it is a challenge but such a rewarding one.
Yeah, that's a good point. There are spiritual people or texts that do guide us in a way. I use to read the bible a lot and am aware of the kind of God that Jesus' s father was. I just don't know if Jesus was really creating miracles. I know there is proof he existed but like the stories of old...you just can't know whats true or not so easily.Quote:

That is a good help to a situation I could not figure out. I guess I cannot figure it out. For example if I am figuring out things all night long all my dreams will be non-lucid. I just think maybe these Dream Guides that inspire me are actually me made up from my own mind. I actually know that for a fact cause even nightmare type people I can overcome in my dreams. So they are made up from my own mind. This point has been made a number of times in this thread in various ways. If these Dream Guides are inspiring me then who do they want me to become? Or what am I meant to learn from the nightmarish situations? Why are the rest of the DCs just so boring? :) The point I am making is that if we are them we don't have to worry about whether they act good or bad we can accept and forgive their perceived imperfections. In other words if we perceive imperfections or are attached to perfections or annoyed by lack of anything much at all there is nothing to worry about cause we are all in one dream together. In fact their flaw or good quality is just a dream like experience with no substance. Dream guides are those who help you gain more lucidity. The whole Dreamviews site is a Dream Guide and it often appears in my dreams telling me what? I think we have to use our will power to wish to meet our Dream Guides and become more lucid but not rely on them but on our lucidity.
I agree with what your saying.. I guess I do focus on dcs imperfections at times but not so much. Just knowing its a dream does help you not be bothered by it. But when I mentioned imperfections earlier I meant the imperfections of real people. Sorry If I confused you a bit.Quote:
