    Thread: Is it possible to dream every dream lucid?

      I will go ahead and put my own anecdotes forward. I can attest that it is absolutely possible to have every dream be lucid. I have achieved 100% lucidity rates in the past and had maintained it for a good long while. It took a lot of focus and dedication at first but it eventually just became normal for me. I have also met a few other people who had achieved the same ability. And then of course there are the natural lucid dreamers who grow up thinking that everyone knows when they are dreaming because all the only dreams they ever experience are lucid.

      In my experience, when I first started to achieve those high frequency rates of lucid dreams, I actually did not feel totally well rested. I would feel mentally exhausted after waking up, but I do not believe this was inherently due to the act of lucid dreaming. I was testing my limits and trying very hard to boost my frequency of lucid dreams and essentially placing stress on my mind from all the effort I put in. I just kept working at it though and eventually it became second nature and felt effortless. At that point I was lucid dreaming all the time and would wake up fully refreshed without any mental exhaustion. It just became natural. I guess what you can take away from this is that even if you did find lucid dreaming exhausting, you would eventually adjust and adapt to it.

      The only other problem with the concept of lucid dreaming all the time is that you don't know if it's truly all the time if you don't recall every dream. But how do we even know if we have recalled every single dream of the night? It's just too difficult to quantify. And even beyond that, it actually is possible to have lucid dreams that you don't recall. There have been countless times where I would wake up in the morning and remember nothing. Then several hours later in the day I would encounter something that triggered my memory and end up recalling a dream that had been lucid. Lucid dreams are generally much more likely to be recalled than non-lucids but even the lucid ones are at risk of being forgotten.

      What was the longest period of time you had every dream lucid? I'm not asking for comparison to myself or anyone else, but just because I'm curious and this whole site could use some more "statistics" And how long did it take before you no longer felt mentally exhausted? Oh, and also how long had you been lucid dreaming before you acheived this?

      I find it interesting that we have now had people say they have both been exhausted and been refreshed when doing this. But it seems at some point everyone here that has claimed has been able to do it without being tired at some point. Hmm, there are probably so many other factors that come into play.

      After a while I stopped keeping track of how much exactly I had been lucid dreaming for how long. So I can't give a perfectly accurate statement. I would say that this carried on for about 3 years with the occasional non-lucid dream sneaking in every few months.

      As for how long it took me to stop feeling mentally exhausted, I don't remember exactly either. I think it would have been a little over 1 month before I adjusted to non-stop lucidity. I had been using techniques like ADA and MILD and other things throughout the day and I believe that's where the exhaustion really came from. You could probably even call it a change in lifestyle.

      I started lucid dreaming as a child from a young age, but it was pretty rare, sporadic, and unintentional. When I was 13 years old I found out that lucid dreaming could actually be learned and controlled. I wasted no time and immediately started studying and learning as much as I could about lucid dreaming and induction techniques. That's when I really started trying to lucid dream. I am 20 now so that would have been around 7 years ago.

      Off the top of my head I can think of one possible factor for people feeling tired from lucid dreaming. REM phases are when we tend to get the most rest out of our sleep. But when we wake up during a REM phase it's often disruptive and makes us feel tired and groggy. Normally we would sleep throughout our entire REM phase and move on to the next part of our sleep cycle without any disruption. However when we lucid dream, we are more likely to cause ourselves to wake up from the dream before the REM phase has ended. But that's just an idea of what might be happening.

      I was actually doing so many different things that it was probably overkill honestly. DDA (or VILD if you prefer) is the main thing that first allowed me to have fairly frequent lucids. I was eventually having an average of 1 or 2 lucid dreams a night with DDA I think. But I felt like I could take it even further and started practicing ADA as well. This eventually pushed me to the point that 100% of my dreams were lucid. After a while I also simplified the ADA to a form that focused mainly on a perpetual reality check sort of thing.

      Other things that I had been doing in addition included general MILD stuff, WBTB, DEILD, focus on dream signs, reality checks, and rotating my bedroom furniture every 3 months.
