Summoning DC's? How can I do this better? Not just people, but animals too?

Recently I had a LD where I tried and tried to summon a specific DC. I initially stopped and thought to summon a dragon to hang out with, talk to, but I felt like that was going to be too hard. So I nearly got the DC right, seemed hazy in the details though. Later in the dream, a nearly perfect time was ruined by the unwanted random change of a DC and I tried very hard to change it back with no luck. Does practice help this? is there a certain set of techniques I can try to make this sort of thing work out? thanks!
Ideally I'd love to summon friendly animals to talk to! But also certain people would be nice

I use my sense of touch and/or sound to create the DC before seeing them.

I just place my hand behind my back and wait for the dc touch it. It usually only takes a second or two for this to happen. Once I feel the DC, I turn around and they are there.

If it is a person I'm summoning, I'll feel their hand touch mine. If I'm trying to summon a specific person, I might try to hear their voice as well before turning around to see them to help with the expectation.

This works with animals too. If it is a dragon I'm summoning, I'll feel their head touch my hand. If it is a dolphin I'm summoning, I'll feel their rostrum.

Thanks i'll have to try that next time! I definitely had much more success when I expected to see them around the corner, but when right in front I had no such luck changing. Maybe i'll close my eyes and try to change a DC when already present. Where I was, i was in a bind and couldnt really turn around, otherwise I would have turned around and then back in hopes of changing the DC

I ask my DG if they're around. If they aren't, I just say "summon entity (name of whatever I want to summon)" If it's something large, I'd use an item to spawn it

I came up with a method for summoning dream characters that's been pretty fool-proof for me.

I noticed a while ago that a dream has an easier time making things work the way you want if it's believable in the context of the situation.. but it only seems to care about the very last thing that happened. For example, if a character is chasing you and trying to murder you in a dream, all you have to do is say something like "Aww, so we're friends now, awesome!" and the dream responds to that context, forgetting the whole part where the guy was just about to chop you to bits.. and making him suddenly friendly.

So I thought why not use this principle to summon dream characters. So what I do is I pretend that I'm mid conversation with them. I'll just act as if they're in the next room and we've been having a conversation all along. For example's sake let's say the dream character is Darth Vader, and I'm outside my kitchen, and imagining he's in there. I'll just be like "So how those pancakes coming along Darth? They nearly ready yet?" "Oh sweet" etc until after a few of my responses, I'll hear the character respond. At that point, my mind obviously expects them to be in the room since I heard their voice coming from there, so now I walk into the room that I'm pretending they're in, and sure enough, they're there.

Of all the methods I've used to summon dream characters this has without a doubt the highest success rate for me.

Sounds like a pretty great idea, I'll be sure to give it a shot!
