sleep paralysis
I just had a couple of SP episodes in a row. I am honestly sick of feeling such panic during them. I was laying there falling asleep and then my stupid head thought, wait...can I still move? Then that familiar feeling would wash over me as I become aware. I partially get myself out of it, but its like I'm drugged and I slide back into it. And I struggle like this - fighting my way out, then pulled back in. The last few episodes I manage to remember what I have read - to stay calm and go with it, and I try to. But then what do I do? How can I get from SP to lucid dream? I tried to get my astral body out but I was stuck. I couldn't see anything. Then I just panicked and fought my way out and sat up.
Are there any techniques I could try? I have SP quite often, so I would love to learn how to get to a lucid dream from it...Thanks!

Hi Mouse. From the best of my knowledge and the general consensus out there, there's absolutely no need to panic if you experience sleep paralysis. It's a mechanism to stop you from acting out your dreams and can't harm you in any way. It's likely that if you don't think about it too much and panic about it, it would run its course quicker and you may very well find yourself "out of body" and in a lucid dream once your body is given the chance to fall asleep. I have done it many times from middle of the night SP symptoms which resulted in DEILDs. Thinking too much will bring your mind too much back to reality and prolong the process, just like thinking about reality too much during a LD might cause it to lose stability. Just acknowledge it as a symptom you're close, and then forget it. If you're wondering about a technique, I think WILD or DEILD are what you might be after here. Good luck :)

SP (REM Atonia) it's an involuntary action and will happen whether we notice it or not, right at the proper time when it's supposed to. It doesn't matter if we would notice it or not but, it's not a Lucid Dreaming goal or nor it is not something we need to reach in order for moving forward in the WILDing attempt. In fact, trying to sleep paralysis for LDing will hamper your WILDing.
However, if you do then and if you don't like it, you can break free from paralysis. You can do this by changing your breathing speed, by trying to wiggle tips of your fingers or toes.

I suggest removing your focus from your body. Do not try to move your real or dream body. Relax and start daydreaming about some scene that is pleasant such as laying on a beach and all the sensations that would go with this, such as feeling a light breeze and hearing waves. Do not focus any harder than you would while spacing off and day dreaming. With luck you will start experiencing things and fall back asleep, where you can attempt a lucid dream via the standard WILD skill set.
