Need help with choosing LD technique

Hi, It's been some time since I introduced myself. Since then (around Year and half ago) I've been trying some techniques to achieve Lucid Dreaming, but I can't achieve it through regular sleeping patterns since my sleeping schedule is variable due to school.

Since every one of you is more experienced than me I wanted to ask you about good technique in case like mine. Also, what about all those special "headsets" and other gadgets that in theory helps you with it? Is it really working?

I'm not really sure about the headsets or gadgets, if anything all they give should be a teeny tiny boost in my opinion which isn't really worth the price.

Anyways, even despite your irregular sleeping patterns, it depends on how you want to proceed with it.
If you just want to put effort in lucid dreaming before bed, then I highly recommend MILD along with optionally but very recommended meditation and visualization.
If you wake up naturally a few times during the night or if you are able and want to do that, you can always attempt some WILD, FILD or SSILD.
If you don't really feel like putting any effort in your bedtime, then you can just go for the classic DILD by keeping a dream journal and reality checking often and mindfully through the day, maybe even through the bias of ADA or a similar technique.

If anything, I think irregular sleeping patterns are an aid, not a hindrance, to getting lucid. At least, it's always worked that way for me. One thing that can predispose you to getting lucid is being asleep during a period of time that your mind expects to be awake. And in my own case, my most intense lucid dreams have usually come during the most intense periods of the school year, when I am falling asleep exhausted earlier in the evening only to wake up halfway through the night for an extra hour or two of mentally intensive work, then falling asleep again for a couple hours before getting up for the day.

In fact, recently I took a year away from school and my ability to get lucid vanished almost entirely. I suspect this because my sleep pattern got more regular and I wasn't getting as much mental stimulation during the daylight hours. So if you are in college and you aren't getting lucid as much as you like, try studying harder!
