awesome dream slipping away

Sometimes I can feel myself waking from an awesome dream. As it slips away I try to hold on to it but eventually I'm just laying there imagining about the next ten seconds of the dream before I say screw it, change position and go back to sleep, or get up and start my day. Could I possibly become lucid or even continue somewhat of the same dream if I'm sleepy enough and imagine longer? Lol, is it even possible to hold to a dream?

It's definitely possible, look into WILD techniques.

Just try to relax your body fully while keeping the image of the dream fresh in your mind. I'd say persistence and practice are really key here, but the more you do it, the better you get at relaxing, the better you can keep focused and the quicker your brain gets the idea.
