hello foxy
try to lay still when you wake up and move and try to recall anything you can
at first it will be nothing much to recall but still write it down , then with time you will remember more and more

you can also try writing a 'day book' before you go too bed write down everything that happened interesting or not, and how you felt about certain situations, and in the morning tills you remember more just write down feelings or ideas and slowly your dreams will become easier too remember. Actually makes a good reality check a few times a day stop and remember what you have been doing and think back on how you got where you are now.

Generally if I'm trying to work on recall, I make a blank dream journal entry. I'll just put in something like "No Dreams Recalled". This helps to set the habit and hopefully get you on track for recalling dreams.
All the advice Oneironautics gave is really solid and basically the exact same things I would suggest as well. A day journal is nice not just for recall but for lucidity, helps you to catch those very mundane dreams.

I second some of the suggestions above. To maximize your recall make an intention to recall dream when you are awake, minimize moment after you are awake with eyes closed, write down on dream journal even you don't recall anything. Another thing you can do is just write whatever comes to to mind. Something else I do is write old dreams I recall at that time I may have not written down. It's still helping you improve your recall even if the dreams aren't fresh. I also keep a daily diary of sorts in addition to dream journal. That helps improve my overall recall too.

I am sure if you have come this far you will be remembering dreams soon! Even if it is just a color, a person who might have been in it, or even just a sense-feeling you had of the dream. Or, if you don't have that yet, just write how you felt upon awakening.
Don't worry if you don't seem to get anything at first. Your dream journal entries will grow and grow. I think remembering dreams is a lot of fun and you will be glad you got started!
