Why when I get a Lucid dream am I stuck in my room and unable to manipulate stuff much?
Getting lucid and controlling the dream are separate things. Beginners hope that upon getting lucid they will be like Neo, but that is not what happens. Study up on Dream control.

Enz, If you are getting lucid that is a fantastic start! Congrats on that. Now how do you move around and leave your room, or have an effect on the dream itself? We must teach our brains to believe it is possible to change the world it is experiencing. Start with very simple goals at first. I would try the following types of training in your next few dreams. 1) Say out loud over and over, "this is a dream, I am dreaming" 2) Stop and look for your hands. Look to where they should be and imagine yourself moving them. When you can look at your hands practice moving them while you watch them. 3) Find the door of the room you are in. Walk over to it and put your hand on it 4)Go to the window and look out. Expect to see something and imagine how it should look. get to where you can actually see something outside. 5) Leave the room through the door. Expect it to lead out into the house as normal. Imagine the house is out there.
You can do these one at a time or all in one dream. After you get that far and can move about and explore, try similar little steps to learn more control. Plan on holding one certain item such as a base ball and go looking for one in the dream. Try walking to someplace near your house and end up getting there. Take little steps until you are ready to tackle flight and advanced powers.
