Afternoon nap window
Hey everyone, for the days I am unable to do WBTB in the mornings, I'm considering trying afternoon naps when that is an option. Does anyone here have experience with or know after how long of being awake is the best time to nap in the afternoon is after either approximately 4.5 or 6 hours of sleep? When would be a good time to try and when would too much time have passed?
Thank you!

I'm pretty new at this but I took a shot at an afternoon nap last Saturday with some success. I work long hours during the week and there is generally a time each Saturday when I have the house to myself so naps...tend to happen. :)
This time I got into hypnagogia pretty quickly and went just as quickly into a short dream that I would describe as moderately lucid. I woke extremely refreshed in about an hour. I think the timing was important for me....I had a busy morning and the nap was coming naturally. I had been awake for about five hours.

Hey, thanks for your reply, lenscaper. I'm going to try and test out some good times to nap for getting lucid. I am not sure when the window for REM to occur during daytime naps is. And that sounds like a good time. Midday seems like a good time do try it.

The optimal time to take a nap is around 2:30pm. 12 hours after the time of deepest sleep at night. Our internal clocks naturaly make us sleepy around this time so it should be easier to slip into REM. It also isn't so late that it interferes with sleep at night.
I personally haven't had much luck with getting lucids during naps. Mostly because it takes me to long to fall asleep for WILD and I rarely remember nap dreams for some reason. I hope it works well for you!
