Lucid Dream Experiment 2020 - Get Involved!
Hi Oneironauts,
I'm planning on running a year-long experiment during 2020, the idea is to experiment with a personal theory regarding the induction of lucid dreaming.
The concept is reasonably simple:
A large portion of our mind is dedicated to the processing of social cues and interactions. As you've probably noticed, our dreams are populated with people we have come into contact with in our daily lives, including characters from films, TV shows etc.
Humans are inherently social creatures.
As lucid dreamers, performing reality checks is a good means to prime our minds for lucidity. Yet, we rarely, if ever are asked by others to perform a reality check... when was the last time someone ask you "Are You Dreaming?"
So the idea is this:
During 2020, I'll be creating daily short videos on Instagram where people of all kinds will be directly asking you to perform a reality check, to ask you if you are dreaming.
I want us to saturate your mind with socially cued reality checks, in the hope that this transfers to your dreams and starts to populate them with characters that are likely to ask you to reality check.
Each daily video will be a random individual from a different social background, culture, age, race etc. The aim is to keep it as varied as possible.

If you'd like to become one of the daily videos, please create a short video (portrait not landscape) of you asking the viewer to perform a reality test (get creative if you like!) and email it to: [email protected]
** SUBMISSIONS SHOULD BE IN PORTRAIT AND UNDER A MINUTE (INSTAGRAM RULES) **
If you're a non-english speaker, other languages are also acceptable.
Hopefully, this will be a fun and successful experiment and will, as a side effect, help raise awareness of lucid dreaming!

If there's enough interest I'll kick the experiment off early, otherwise, things will start in 2020.
The experiment will only take place if there’s enough interest, so follow me if you’re interested - hopefully, this will make for a nice alternative to the endless surreal pictures and “inspirational dream quotes” that are all you can find regarding lucid dreaming on Instagram!
