I'm hosting a Lucid Dreaming Workshop over Zoom, What should I Cover?

Hey Dreamers! I'm working with my local holistic center to host a lucid dreaming workshop over the video group chat service Zoom.

This workshop is aimed at an older crowd who will most likely have little to no experience with dreaming in general. I have an outline prepared already, but if anyone can point out something critical or basic I'm overlooking that would be cool to cover and talk about, I'm all ears!

I'm starting out with something interactive, then moving to my usual order of basic habits and skills. And finally ending with some open discussion about personal experiences. Thank you for your attention!

That all looks good, but it would be nice if you could clarify in your techniques section that DILD and WILD/DEILD are not techniques, but descriptors of the two types of transitions to lucidity that are available -- this might help them avoid confusion in the future.

Also, maybe you could talk a bit about the non-dual perspective and waking-life self-awareness (aka, presence in the moment) a bit more, as they are instrumental in developing the lucid mindset necessary for successful, consistent LD'ing -- and that lucid mindset makes the techniques, any techniques, work better. (ADA, BTW and, in my opinion, is the exact opposite of mindfulness, so I personally wouldn't even bother to incorporate it into the presentation -- just sayin').

I understand these suggestions are a little unusual, but they might be worth considering.

      Good luck!

Have you had your presentation yet? I'm curious how it went.

Looks like a lot of stuff to cover. If you haven't had your presentation already, then maybe something to consider adding is just talking about the benefits of lucid dreaming and what kind of amazing experiences are possible with them. I find whenever I ask group of people for input that I don't know very well it usually ends up being awkward for a while (which is fine and kind of expected, but not . A suggestion I would have would be to share one of your favorite lucid experiences with them before your story time.

Thank you for the suggestions Sageous and FluBB!

Yeah we did the workshop last night. Small turnout, but that was kind of expected. I'm not the greatest public speaker; I fumbled a bit, and the perfectionist in me wishes I would have made some small changes, but overall it turned out just fine. I was told that I spoke with passion and that it was engaging. These guys were super beginners, so I didn't linger too long on different techniques or matters that were sorta deep for the average joe. I tried tuning my notes a bit to some of what you were suggesting Sageous. I ended up leaving out ADA like you suggested - it felt like the right choice. Thank you!

FluBB it was a bit to cover; the workshop ran for an hour with an extra 15 minutes for group discussion about personal experiences.

I've actually had the opposite experience. I used to lead a lucid dreaming workshop/activity at a summer camp I worked at years ago. Maybe it was because this was a different (younger), much more open crowd, but having group discussions was always the highlight of the activity. I loved seeing kids faces light up when they get to tell everyone about their favorite dream.

I'm laughing at myself right now because I totally see that. The subject matters quite a bit when asking for input. Asking a team at work about progress on something they hate or want to avoid is way different xD

I am glad it went well. People always tell me the same thing about being passionate when I talk about lucid dreaming. Its just so fun to share and talk about it!
