What are the odds...?

well last night around this time, I got hungry and made somethin to eat, and while makin it, I started thinking "I really want to watch [insertmoviename], I liked that movie." So while eating, im flipping through the channels, and the show i was JUST thinking of, was on...
I just sort of dismissed that as complete coincidence...

But When I went to bed, I had a dream where me and my dad were at Target looking for the 4th harry potter book for my little sister, and we were about to find it I think, but my dream sort of turned into school....

Now heres the strange part, about 5 seconds, if that, after I woke up, my little sister came into my room, and asked my dad if she could go up to Target and get the 4th harry potter book...

Just wonderin if I should keep dismissing these events as comlete coincidence, or maybe its the beginning of somethin more (at least im hoping so lol)...

it was just a coincidence that you had two coincidences occur so close together.

Hey Kastro, I know what you mean about random and wierd coincidences. Over the last couple of months I've had heaps of crazy shit like that happen to me, and after a while you get to the point where you're say to yourself "Okay, if one more thing like this happens then I'm definately in some sort of twisted Truman Show". It's also those little things like when you hear a word for the first time and then some guy on TV says that word less than an hour later. That happened to me about 3 times in one week not too long ago. Or things like writing the word 'Vampires' in my DJ just as Count Chocula appears on Family Guy. I don't know if that's what you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure everyone has moments like that.

Anyways, I usually dismiss such things as coincidence and accept that the universe is completely f***ed in the head and is merely messing with me for some amusement.

However, that's pretty buzzy stuff you're talking about, so maybe you're becoming psychic or something, or maybe you're going crazy, either way I'm sure everything will be fine.

This happens to me sometimes, but not usually to do with dreaming (although it HAS happened).

Almost always, if I am waiting for something to happen, the moment I decide to go to the bathroom or make a cup of tea, it'll happen.

Sometimes I think, I hope it's so-and-so episode, when I turn on the tv to watch something. And either it IS, or it's the episode i'd have least like to see. Sometimes things are coincidence, and sometimes things are actually quite predictable and you just don't realise.

Heh, I had something similar the other day. Dreamt about a new Age of empires game, in glorious 3D. Not even a week later, there it was, AOE3 in full glorious 3D, looking identical in gameplay. I personally think these events are down to a mixture of things. Perhaps reading something in an article, or watching an advert on TV, without it being taken on board, then after you register it in your dream and see it again in real life, you consciously notice the advert, and only remember this as the first you've seen or heard of it. I think in your case, perhaps they were talking about it before coming into your room, while you were still asleep, but you took some of the conversation in, during your dream?

My advice? Write them down, make note of them, and don't try too hard to induce anything more; because these things just tend to happen. Just observe what your brain is doing; you should eventually have your answer: Coincidence, or something more?

Just fun odd occurances. they ahppen all the itme and I belvie its just a fun random part of life. Humans try to see patern in seemingly random events, and when we do we get all "oooooh wow" hehe ;)

That happened to me once when my mom said i was being asinine.

the other day i had a dream that there was a tick on me, and i woke up to find a tick on my wrist. it seems like a very strange coincidence.

i think my body might have known that a tick was there, biting and sucking blood or whatever, and sent a signal to alert me. possibly while sleeping you heard a mention of target and harry potter come from your sister, which sparked the dream. ?

I can't count the number of times I've had a song stuck in my head only to hear it on the radio right then...

I can also anticipate people's movements. I don't know if that counts... For example, I have a cat. I can stare him in the eyes, and I know EXACTLY when he's going to move, and what he's going to do. This has also come in handy in Rock-Paper-Scissors. After about two rounds, I can predict what the other person's going to pick. The coolest thing is, I can predict a flip of a coin too. If I know which face is up originally, and I watch it flip, I can almost always tell which face is up.

Once again, don't know if that has anything to do with the topic...

I had never heard the word 'asinine' before you made that post, and then tonight when I was watching the Matrix Revolutions, one of the people used it in a sentence! AND the word was from a thread relating to wierd experiences just like this, so WTF?

I myself blame it all on pop music and the satanic follwers that spawn from it.

I had something similar happen to me (but it wasn't dream related). I have the Firefox extension Stumbleupon (which produces a random website when you click the 'stumble' button). Something reminded me of a website I remember visiting ages ago. When I clicked the stumble button, it brought up that website. :o

You just reminded me! That happens to me all the time. I remember hearing the word parallax the very day I learned what it was, and I'd never heard it before.

One really creepy thing: I have DC++ where I am and it has a trivia thing on it, which just asks random questions and gives points to the first person with the right answer... I was looking up the word "Anthropomorphism" in Wikipedia since I'd just heard it somewhere, and -immediately- after I closed the window, I look at the trivia game, and sure enough the question is: "Giving human qualities to non-human beings is known as what?"

I typed it in and got 16 points!! :D

You've only gotta worry when you have three coincidences in a row, then it's a conspiracy... :eek:
