Lucid dreaming Day! APRIL 12TH

Celebrating Lucid dreaming Day!
Every year, on April 12th, lucid dreamers around the world unite to celebrate Lucid Dreaming Day.
April 12th marks the anniversary of the world's first laboratory research proving the validity of lucid dreaming.
Lucid Dreaming Day provides a platform for lucid dreamers to raise awareness of their passion and introduce the uninitiated to the wonders of dream exploration. Join us in celebrating the wonders of lucid dreaming!
There were plenty of historically notable days that could have been chosen to celebrate Lucid Dreaming Day. However, we picked April 12th to show our appreciation of the pioneering research by Dr. Keith Hearne who, on April 12th, 1975, was the first to scientifically validate lucid dreaming.

LET'S CELEBRATE IT!!

OK. Here's an idea.

Everyone who wants to participate makes an intention to meet up with the Dream Views community and celebrate in the lucid state the night of April 11th/morning of April 12th. Any ideas for a location that would be good for our Dream Views lucid party?

We would have to practice our best techniques beforehand. Do a WBTB or whatever works for you. I might even splurge and take a galantamine ;).

Does this sound like a fun idea? :)

Of course, be ready to report your dream if you have one. :)

Edit: As an alternative, for those who would rather keep things private, you could just make intentions to have your own lucid dream on 4/11-12 and post results if you're successful.

Bonus if you show up to the lucid party in your super-hero form from the Task of the Year. :thumbup:

Even though my lucid dreams are rare, I'll be trying to set an intention and prepare for this tonight. It's a fun idea.

But, let's make it like month or something? There people won't feel rushed and stuff. For the newbies, They can start working on their Dream Journals and their foundations of lucid dreaming. For lucid dreaming is never easy for anyone. We all dream differently! :D

I’m up for this. Going to try tonight and tomorrow and see what happens. I’m not going to visualise anything as it will be an interesting surprise to see who I’ll meet there and what location it will take place in. Some sort of physical representation of the dream views forum would be cool. Lucidity would be nice but I suppose it’s not essential. We could still join the party in a fun regular dream. I’ll set the intention tonight and WBTB in the morning. Hope to see you all there! 😉

So, happy lucid dreaming day! This dream is from last year, I had a dream about Dr. Keith Herrne. I think I made a minor mistake on his name.

So I attempted to join the lucid dream party this morning but sadly I was not blessed with lucidity though I did have a dream fragment where I was sat at an outdoor pub among others and had a massive jug of beer so maybe I was there after all? Going to try again tonight

Who said that you're late for the party?! Stay in the present! Welcome! Also as others may agree, lucid dreaming is not an easy thing to do. It takes hard work and patience. There is no magic pill or short cuts for lucid dreaming.

Well. I had many WILDs last night, because I took galantamine. I came across a pool party, but everyone there was a kid. I asked one kid if this was the lucid dreaming party, and she said "You aren't ready for the lucid dreaming party, not for a long time." Me: "Why not? Am I a bad lucid dreamer?" "Yes."

Haha. But I did have a fun time with those WILDs.. even if I did cheat to get lucid ;)

I tried yesterday but wasn't able to have any LDs.

Today, I had a LD but wasn't able to make it to the party. The plan was to use a door to go to Prague (which is my goal at the moment, so I decided to put the party in Prague... it is a good place for a party :) and make it 2in1). Unfortunately, there were no doors, just fields, and trees and a footpath (and one house without doors)! So I went on a quest to find some doors. I found a nice hill with cliffs and views of a big city (not Prague but almost). So I changed my plan and decided to jump and fly but wasn't able to do that either because I woke up abruptly without any warning (I snored or inhaled deeply to clear my nose and it woke me up).

Later, I got lucid again but lost it even more quickly, in 30 seconds, to a FA-style dream.

Take as much time want. There is no real rush. :) Just keep on working on it! :D I'm sure there are plenty of members that can help you with your foundation for your lucid Journey.

Physical thresholds are funny things even in dreams for me, so I personally wouldn't choose a doorway as it might make me forget what I wanted. Just remember that your imagination is potentially the only limiting factor here. You can just as easily intend for a door to appear to take you where you want to go. It doesn't need to make sense and so it doesn't need a house, or even a wall.

And for example, if making it appear directly in front of you were troublesome, you could instead try to intend for it to appear behind you so that when you turn around, it's there. You can problem-solve whichever way you want, after all. :)

Yeah, my wake-me knows this and is quite confident but my dream-me struggles with doubts and is often dream-confused, not really able to think about creative solutions :) My childhood experiences with LDing put me into a position where I am able to have LDs of decent length without major problems with stability but control doesn't come naturally to me, I am more used to following the story than creating it. So I am taking baby steps to build the self-confidence of dream-me. At the moment, I have more control in my semis than in true lucids.
But yes, I need to get more aggressive with the control and with everything I want to do in dreams, otherwise, I get distracted by both my thoughts and doubts and the dream itself.

I spent the 12th celebrating Lucid Dreaming Day by watching Daniel Love's 5-hour episode of the Lucid Portal. Great fun. I managed to become lucid the following night—by noticing that the ground in this misty village was a mirror!—and enjoyed fighting against Doctor Eggman with my superpowers. Did some flying and also spent some time freerunning and parkouring at impossible angles on a row of oddly shaped slot machines parallel to a railway. I felt like a graffiti artist character in a virtual Subway Surfers game!

Great fun as always! :D

Did Doctor Eggman appear as an cartoon or as an live-action?

Beautiful. My wife certainly loved it and found it quite soothing. She's not a lucid dreamer like me—I mean, I can manage at least 5 LDs per month whereas she's lucky to get a false awakening in the same amount of time (which she did this morning and, funnily enough, it involved me bursting into the room to excitedly tell her about a lucid dream I had!) :chuckle:

Oh yeah! Doctor Eggman was like the original cartoon but more life-like and was already in my dream before I became lucid. He was basically a powerful dictator enslaving the villagers. Once I gained lucidity, I taught him a lesson Neo-styled! I knocked the hell out of him and even used a bit of telekinesis to make him drop from the sky and crash into some houses. Dream people below cheered—I felt like a hero!

I did have a dream, last night, about being in the United Kingdom but, in the mid- 1800s. The British four artillery officers were aiming at something in the woods. Then I recall standing close to the end of a cannon, normal size, disguised as a soldier. I asked what are we really doing there and they told me that they were waiting for the giant in the woods. I felt uneasy that they could have shot me as the giant monster that they thought I was. However, I didn't see you.

It's that time of year again. National Lucid Dreaming Day! It's coming up very soon - April 12th. Last year we did a theme where we had a "lucid dreaming party" with fellow dream views members. It was a lot of fun. Here's the post from last year: LINK. We did it over the course of a month, rather than only that day, due to time zone differences and to give people the chance to get lucid. :)

I'd love to see us have another party! Feel free to practice your best techniques, do a Wake Back to Bed, or even take a little Galantamine :lipssealed: to have an awesome Lucid Night! The party will start on April 12th any time, and run until the end of April. Feel free to post your lucid experiences of the party below!

I spent a rare 15-20 minute lucid trying to find the party last night. First I entered a bar and asked the people within if this was the dreamviews party but they just looked at me with blank eyes and wide, awkward grins as if they didn’t know how to communicate with me. So I left and later found a bunch of people hanging out on a coastal promenade. I asked them if this was the party to which they answered “yes!” They were a friendly bunch but when I asked them who they were they gave me the usernames - “Brolin”, “Rose” and “BadB**ch”. So nobody I recognise here! I’ll probably try again and see if I can attend a more exciting party.

Brolin... Do you mean Thanos? Having a lucid dream is an accomplishment in itself. Keep on going!! Don't give up!! Remember you are only late to the party if you expect that you are late to the party... :D

We know so little about this subject. Sleep research is very limited and lucid dreaming research is even more limited.

Yeah, maybe. I started the dream flying and using telekinesis so I probably activated a superhero schema.

Lucid this morning. I was able to fly to the party. At first, inside the house, the lady said it wasn't time yet. I had to wait. But then I started worrying that I'd lose the dream, so I flew down the hallway myself. Inside were a bunch of people at a dining room table. Some familiar faces! I asked one girl with long brown hair if it was the Lucid Dreaming Party. She said "yes!" We had a good time, and I woke up just before dinner was to be served.

I mean, I do think DCs are versions / aspects of ourselves often. But she didn't really look like me. :) Lighter brown hair, longer hair, and looked younger. She was very pretty.

So I attended another dreamviews party! This one was a scenario I incubated, but it didn’t play out quite as I’d hoped…

Spoiler for The Dream:

…after an argument with some rude gentleman I gradually come to realise I’m dreaming. I look around and see I’m in a dark living room and it’s full of people with drinks having a house party. I assume it’s the dreamviews party I incubated and pursue my goal to find dreamviews members among the crowd. I scan the crowds and recognise some people from my waking life but I ignore these and wade through them looking for people from the forum.

I first approach a woman with long hair and ask her if she’s from dreamviews. “Yes” she replies. “Great, what’s your name?” I ask. “SweetestCandy” she says. I don’t recognise the name but note it in my head and say “ok, thanks. Have a good party”. I go back to the crowds and scan the faces for anyone who stands out. I see a guy wearing a kilt and yellow tinted shades and approach him. “Hey, what’s you’re name?” I ask. “GreyZone” he replies. “Great, nice to meet you” I say and walk away. I’m happy I’ve collected a couple of names though I don’t recognise them.

I then remember what I really wanted to do in this dream and yell “hello dreamers!” To get everyone’s attention. “Welcome to the dreamviews party” I continue, as if I’m the host. I then open up some patio doors out into the back garden. “Shall we go flying?” I say, inviting them all to the most amazing lucid dream party in the sky! I run out with excitement onto a vast grassy field that is shrouded in darkness. I can’t wait for the party to go airborne but when I turn around I see only two people have joined me in the field and the rest didn’t bother to come! I’m disappointed but knowing time is limited I don’t bother to go back and try to convince them. I look at the two that did come and see they’re a 40 something year old man and woman. They’re holding hands and grinning with each other and are clearly very in love and up for some fun. “Ok, let’s go!” I say and jump into the sky to take off. I only get a few metres up though before gravity begins pulling me back down again. Just as I start to come down I see the couple fly past me, still holding hands. I quickly grab the man’s foot so I can be pulled up with them but as I’m yanked upward the couple lose control due to my weight and we spiral out of control! We hurtle through the dark sky and then land somewhere in the distance.

I land with a thud on a muddy banking next to a small stream. I get up and listen out for the couple to find out where they are and can hear them groaning and complaining angrily in the distance about the crash. I have no idea where they are in the darkness and with time limited I think I shouldn’t bother looking for them but do feel really bad about leaving them out there alone, especially since I caused the accident. It’s then I remind myself they’re DCs and aren’t real. “Sorry, but don’t worry you’ll stop existing soon!” I call out to them, thinking it will be comforting but I soon realise the comment is anything but and it makes me laugh. I then scamper off back in the direction of the party but sadly the dream ends there…

I Still feel really bad about that couple XD
So I didn’t get my lucid dream party in the sky that I visualised but the whole scenario was enjoyable and I think I’ll call that a success for this year. :)

It's almost that time of the year again! Lucid Party!!! :)

Funny I happened to wake up last night at 12:13 pm. then Thought about doing some reading about the DV party celebration, so told myself Why not give it a shot, maybe they're still celebrating!

Was able to attend a Non-lucid nursing home party! some what fragmented. There I saw a lady letting go of her crutches to dance, she fell twice but then stands up to make some dance moves! another lady is aiming her arm at some banner, I figure she's playing darts at some leaves floating across the board. Soon enough the banner starts falling apart, and I try to hold it so she can shoot at it...I take a closer look and the banner says: "Welcome to Granny's Party"?!:laughtillhurts:

lucid Dreaming Day is next Friday!!! Celebrate!
