My Lucid dreams degrade and fall apart almost instantly

I just woke up from a lucid dream. i barely get any lucids, but with almost all of them, i wake up very soon because the dream quality starts to degrade on its own. In the dream, i was standing in a bathroom at some apartment and i thought to myself, "what am i doing here?" and then BAM! i became lucid. and almost immediately, i started getting dizzy and lightheaded and had to hold on to the counter to stop from falling over. i just stood there and tried to focus on my surroundings, the walls, the floor, the feeling of being in a dream. when i became lucid, everything was like 4k hd quality and almost indistinguishable from reality, but as i walked around, it quickly started degrading and destabilizing until i eventually woke up not too soon after. the colors get faded, the quality gets lower, like 144p, the aspect ratio gets smaller, and i start to feel my real body laying in bed right before i wake up. i try to slow down and re stabilize the dream but no mater what i did nothing worked. and another thing, whenever i become lucid, if im not constantly reminding myself that this is a dream and that im lucid, ill almost instantly forget that im dreaming and get swept back up in the pace of the dream again. its almost like my brain really really really does not want me to be lucid.

Are you confident that you had this dream experience? If so, this shows that what happened during your dream experience was based on what you were confident you were experiencing during the dream and what you didn't experience during the dream was based on what you were not confident you were experiencing during the dream. You did experience some things that you wanted to experience during the dream. You held on to the counter to stop from falling over, you walked around. These are things you did that you intended to experience and that were confident that you could experience. You were so confident in your confidence, that you did not consider the possibility of failing at doing these things. That is the confidence we need in order to experience what we want to experience. If the past during the dream forces you to consider failure in the future, then maybe don't be concerned with what happened during the past. For example, during your dream you went from being not confident you could stand without support to being confident you could walk because you ignored what happened in the past.

What I do when I get lucid to keep it from falling apart is give myself an immediate task i have to do. For example, going through the nearest door, eating something, or trying to fly.

I find that just idling around kills the dream, but thats just me.

I have some psychological blocks that keep me from LD like I used to, and I think your feeling that your brain doesnt want to stay in the dream is also just a mental block. If you think LD is difficult to do then it will be. You need confidence that what you do will work just like what dolphin said.

This is a new approach that I've been trying to learn to do as well. To immediately start to think of my dream goals when I become lucid and start to go after them. In the past I'd be doing the usually advised things of spinning around or focusing on details to try to stabilize the dream but I've had less luck with them lately because they don't take my mind off the problem. I'm optimistic that the dream goals will provide enough interest to occupy me and prolong the dream.

The only thing is I haven't quite put it into practise yet but I know it's only a matter of time, as the other techniques I rehearsed did arrive in my dreams after a bit of time.

The other idea I have is just to keep getting better at getting lucid more often. I figure that if I start to do it regularly enough, sooner or later I'll be lucid for longer, perhaps by getting lucid earlier in my dream cycle or just my mind getting really used to it and maybe even my subconscious starting to accept that it's just something I'm going to do, so in order to have enough dreams, I need to have longer lucid dreams. That's the idea, anyway. :chuckle:
