I saw the line between waking life and a dream

So, yesterday, I had one of the most trippy and coolest lucid dream experiences I've ever had that I just had to share it here.

Here's the dream journal entry of the experience (note: single letter initials are just names of people):

I seem to be in a place that, now that I think of it, sort of looks like R's basement when we went to go paintballing with W, D, G, and V. However, it's sort of looks reversed. Everything is white and I'm behind a white couch that is on my left and I'm seeing a sort of medium sized kind of white dog with a little bit of brown fur on its ears and eyes area with a watermelon on its head. And for some reason, the lower bottom left of the scene is sort of flickering black and back on. I'm finding this weird and thinking to myself, "Why is it flickering black like that?".

Now, the Dreamscape is changing, and I appear to be laying down on the left side of my bed in my room. And I'm seeing something really trippy. I'm basically seeing a split screen with two seemingly identical images (top and bottom) of exactly what I would see if my eyes were open while I'm laying down on my left side on my bed. The two images on the top and bottom are separate by a horizontal, wavy, smokey, stringy line. This is really weird to me and for a split second, I'm trying to figure out what it is. And now I realize that I'm dreaming and one of the images or scenes that I'm looking at in the split screen is waking life while the other one is a dream. So, I'm deciding that I want to choose the dream, which I believe is the top screen for some reason. So, I'm moving the smokey wavy dividing line down slowly so that the top scene is being revealed gradually and as I'm seeing it take up more space, I start feeling my waking life body as if I'm waking up and I'm realizing to myself, "Oh crap! That's Waking Life." So, I'm moving the dividing line up now so that the top scene is being covered and the bottom scene is being expanded and more revealed. Now, the dividing line is pretty much all the way at the top and I'm mostly just seeing the bottom scene and I'm realizing, "This is a dream!". I don't feel my physical body anymore and I have that feeling and knowing that I'm in a dream. The sections and clumps of fur on my sheets are really big and I'm trying to reach my arms out. Yet I'm not seeing them reach out, but I somehow am still feeling them reach out. Now, I'm getting out of bed. For whatever reason, I don't feel like I have much time before I wake up right now. So, I'm jumping high up, to the point where I reached the ceiling and I then I land on my bed. Then there's a little bit of time that passes and I wake up.

      ----------------------

I'm still grinning just thinking about how cool it is that I experienced seeing both waking life and a dream, "dipped my toe" in waking life, was able to "take my toe out" of waking life, and then fully "dive into a dream" with "goggles".

Has anyone ever had an experience like this?

      I'd love to hear it.

      Hi
Well, I’m afraid that possibly both sides of the line were part of the dreamscape. On the other hand, I find it a nice way to change the dreamscape, when getting lucid during a False Awakening: Pulling down the dividing line from the upper side of my view, like it was sort of shutter. I was lacking of ideas to do this.

Once I got lucid like I was stuck in a painting into running position, then popped out of the frame to land on the dream world, during a WILD experience

I would be inclined to believe that if it weren't for the fact that I physically felt my body starting to wake up when I was expanding the top scene and no longer felt my physical body when I chose to expand the bottom scene.

I suppose that because of during False Awakening Lucids, my body feels incredibly real. I find it simply amazing how the brain manages to activate, during the sleeping process, all of those neurons that normally are connected to the body in WL.

That's the thing though: When I selected the top scene, I felt my body vividly like I was going to wake up (which I've consciously done from a lucid dream before. So, I know what it feels like).

But, when I selected the bottom scan l scene, I didn't feel my body as much and it actually wasn't that vivid of a dream.

Yeah! If it had happened to me I’d explain it with a FA crazy mix. Reading your entry sounds like an FA to me. Perhaps that’s why I’m not inclined to believe it was WL. It’s going to be one of my next goals if I get lucid in a FA: Pull a dividing line from the upper border of my view to change the dreamscape. Sounds crazy

Edit: FA lucids are the worse to control in my own experience.

That actually sounds like a great idea. I never thought to change the Dreamscape like that because the way that I used it was to choose the same exact scene (it's just that it was choosing between WL or being in a dream).

But, using a dividing line to change the Dreamscape would be pretty cool!

Makes me think of those cartoon moments when the character pulls the "flap" of reality down into another location.

But the idea of "screens" of sorts representing dreams or realities you wish to partake in does sound familiar to me. I've had a few lucids like this in the past where there is a greyscale sort of partial dream I would repeatedly return to with a green screen I could scroll through to "select" which dream I wanted to enter by nose-pinching. It was years ago but still one of my most exciting non-physical experiences.

I do believe in the ability to move consciousness between waking life and the dreamstate fluidly. Though in practice this usually manifests as a WILD with some turbulence in between(iykyk). The choice to select waking life or shift the senses back into a dream state could very well manifest itself in a visual way, I don't see why not. Many people first find out about lucid dreaming in general by learning to "wake themselves up" by thinking about themselves in bed or "seeing" their room and safe surroundings.

That being said as I think about this more I have had some very interesting teetering-type hypnagogic moments. Where consciousness first begins to blur the lines between our waking and dream self, I don't doubt there could be more opportunity for some creative intention there. I'm not sure I've ever fully made the cross without the freight train vibrations.

I've always thought the idea of having an "archive of self" would be quite phenomenal, imagine a full gallery of every dream or memory you've ever had that you could explore "re-enter" at will, and re-experience. Perhaps in the future when dream tech comes a little further

I twice almost felt asleep with half opened eyes. And twice I got half dream in these situation so I can say I have "some experience" in seeing dream and real life at the same time. How it looks? It looks like my brain overwrite some elements from living life. e.g. red whiteboard marker on math lesson my brain overwrite to bloody knife (and that view scared me so much that I woke up immediately ). So in my opinion there is no point to "splitting screen" by brain (because why?). I think overwriting random elements of environments is more "practical" for brain.

About feeling body. Sometimes FA can be really realistic. Sometimes when I'm WILDing I'm not even recognize moment when I entered to dream. I know this bc few times I woke up thinking "bruh I didn't even fall asleep" just before I discovered I'm already in dream

I think it could be very possible during twilight times or very low illuminated places to have such mixed experiences. I remember when I was a kid I used to entertain myself before going to sleep looking at a bulb on the roof of my room, changing its form and moving around as it was kind of spider.
