Interesting link. I have heard of the Senoi, but have not had time to fully research them. I seem to remember that what happens in their dreams drives their daily activities, right?

The example I remember was one time a man dreamed that his neighbor got a new canoe, so upon awakening, he made a new canoe for his neighbor. Seems it could be a peaceful way to live.

Thanks for the link! I found out about the Semoi when I was writing my Lucid Dream research paper last year. I find them quite fascinating and I fell bad that they are not around today :(

At the beginning I thought that the Senoi was a legendary civilization, just like Atlantis or so; something that we need to believe. But it seems that they actually existed and have that particular way of thinking about dreams.
Then the '60s have rediscovered that people, probably covering them in mythical colors. But the tribe seems to be studied by anthropologists.

I pulled some quotes off the web and will add what i know at the end:

"The Senoi make their dreams the major focus of their intellectual and social interest, and have solved the problem of violent crime and destructive economic conflict, and largely eliminated insanity, neurosis, and psychogenic illness." Although highly cooperative, they are nonetheless individualistic and creative, with each person developing his or her unique personality.

Most of all, Senoi have near-perfect mental health. "Perhaps the most striking characteristic of the Senoi is their extraordinary psychological adjustment," says Garfield. "Neurosis and psychosis as we know them are reported to be nonexistent among the Senoi," she continues. "Western therapists find this statement hard to believe, yet it is documented by researchers who spent considerable time directly observing the Senoi.

The Senoi show remarkable emotional maturity." there is much to strongly suggest that, at the very least, their use of dreams is a basic element in developing these characteristics.

They follow these dream rules:

1 Always confront and conquer danger in dreams. If an animal looms out of the jungle, go toward it. If someone attacks you, fight back.

2 Always move toward pleasurable experiences in dreams. If you are attracted to someone in a dream, feel free to turn the attraction into a full sexual experience. If you are enjoying the pleasurable sensations of flying or swimming, relax and experience them fully.

3 Always make your dreams have a positive outcome and extract a creative product from them. Best of all in this regard, try to obtain a gift from the dream images, such as a poem, a song, a dance, a design, or a painting.

These accounts of the Senoi people and their use of dreams have an otherworldly, Utopian quality about them.................


OK quotes over!!! the main thing I remember about the senoi Tribe is that once a week (so to speak) they would gather together and discuss their dreams Who ever in the tribe had the best dream they would make sure that the tribe collectively would come together to realise that dream for the dreamer. Which I think is an awesome idea. Also it encourages the tribe members to out-dream each other and have positive dreams. (what a breathe of fresh air that is)

And it was mentioned above in the quotes but I recall a story of a boy coming up to his dad telling him he had a nightmare of a tiger attacking him... the Father's reply was to say (It was good that you dreamt of the tiger, but it was not good to run away you should stay and face the tiger and take a gift from it to"...

I look forward to hearing any more knowledge you guys have.

I know I am new to this site, but i wonder if it is possible to attempt a similar great dream realising type thing.... if possible i am up for it!

five or so big pages just skimmed for basics i will read and add any extra gems that i find.......

opps i got it from same place as one of the other post still it is fansinating and some great tips! still the more i think that of a compertion where however has the best dream a group do what they can to make that dream real is truly intersting what do you think?
