I like your saying ---> The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them to the impossible.... :)
I have thought about this a number of times. It can bring up a ton of questions depending on what you put it in referance to.
In context to our morality, is life a dream? can we go on dreaming for ever? Do we need the physical body?
We can't really point a direct finger to where our conscious even is and how and why it is there. So it is hard to prove what is real and what is not.
The only time that seemingly exists is now? For the rest is future and the other is past. :P My brain hurts!
I do believe in a coma that EEG scans a such have shoown there is no activity as there would be in comparison to someone who were in a REM state. But again, That is just showing proof of the absece of life in the physical brain. It does not mean you conscious has fizzled out.
My mum was in a coma for two weeks, she said she could hear what was going on around her but could'nt move, she even remembered the songs i sung to her and how much she wanted to tell her sister that she stunk of fags!Quote:

I asked her did she dream, but she just could'nt remember.

cd
in my oppinion, time flows differently while dreaming
thats why 1 min. in the real world seems to be way more in a dream
Waking life movie :
You know they say that there's still six to twelve minutes of brain activity after everything else is shutdown. And a second of dream consciousness, right, well, that's infinitely longer than a waking second. You know what I'm saying?
Oh, yeah, definitely. For example, I wake up and it is 10:12, and then I go back to sleep and I have those long, intricate, beautiful dreams that seem to last for hours, and then I wake up and it's ... 10:13.
Yeah, exactly. So then six to twelve minutes of brain activity, I mean, that could be your whole life. I mean, you are that woman looking back over everything.
-end of quote-
we just know what time is because of the sun, and that our society is partialy based on time
if we were all in an underground cave, without any watches or clocks. time would pass out real differently ( according to me)
in you lucid dream you can alter how time flows out
you can say ""Stop TIME'' or just wish for that and it will affect your interpretation of time
i'm working on going in the ''chamber of time'' in dragon ball Z, a japanese manga,
the chamber of time is magical room , u go in and spend a year in it, outside, only one day passes out
anyway
sorry for my spelling mistakes.. my first language is french.,..
peace out

My religion speaks of this alot, but I am not going to discuss religion here!! I am just saying our conscious existed for many years..oops...I will say nothing more...Quote:

Yeah, definitely on that one. Who'd want to be w/o one for too long (hence why I like going back after a trip w/Cody just so I can LD & wake up in bed)?

read "Maribou Stork Nightmares" by Irvine Welsh. it's a novel about a guy in a coma who lives an entirely different life in his head. it's a very interesting book. there's three stories going on at once - what happens in his coma-world, what's happening at the hospital in the real world, and his childhood/past that led to is coma.
Well i think someone here said in another topic that we only use like 12% of our brains and we can process huge amounts of info and when in a LD we can " Stop RL time " But all were really do is speeding up the rate our brain is processing everything, so we can make the dream fell longer even be in a lucid dream for days of months and only a few minutes pass in RL. There was one person " Robert Monroe " who reported that she experienced 100 years in two hours in a OOBE.
