      Death from dreams?

A nightmare on elm street was originally based on teens in america dying in there dreams. My point is, can we die in our dreams?
I'm not entirly saying taht Freddy Krueger is waiting for us to fall asleep so he can slice and dice us up. What I am suggesting is that our greatest fears being used against us in our dreams somehow which may cause us to be either physically hurt or even die.
      Any agree or disagree? reasons.

No, I disagree. There has never been a death FROM an actual dream. Yeah, maybe you were so scared you had a heart attack, but never direcly from the said dream.

but even having a heart attack because of the fear within a dream is 'death by a dream'.
      do you still disagree?

'The mind cannot live without the body' to quote The Matrix. Interesting, but doubtful, unless you get SO excited that you have a heart attack in the dream

I don't know if anyone knows any time that it has happened or not but it doesn't seem very likely. When your sleeping your pretty relaxed and even if you got really scared I doubt you would have a heart attack. Unless maybe you had major problems and was about to go any day.

Heh..there are things far worser then death..if you really messed with something out there..then that would happen to you..that would eventually lead to insanity, thats all Im gonna say. But most people dont go deep enough to even come close to there, so most people out here are probally 100% safe..I think

Nothing is 100% safe, could be walking down the street when something falls out of the sky and kills you too.

Well my point was I think its as safe as walking down the street. Something "could" happen but I really doubt there is any kind of chance of it.

I know what your point was, thats why I corrected my 100%, its more like 99% or something..something can always happen, any time.
But I'm saying most dreamers here will most probally not experience most of that out there, the things, worse then death.

Why bring it up then? I noticed everyone always says theres no danger at all but then someone brings up that little something that will never happen. Why is that? People don't go "watch out of sharks" when you tell them you going to the beach heh.

What brings it up? I don't know..somebody asked about it I gues, in a sense. Like, can you die when you to the sea? Yes, you could if you got eaten by sharks. Its actually a good example, the deeper and further you go into the ocean, the bigger the chance is you get eaten by sharks, or something else.

I don't think sharks go that far out into the middle of the ocean. I know what you mean by that though, but I dont really get when you say going deeper into a dream though. A dream is a dream no matter how far you go into it. I don't see how it can hurt you no matter what you do.

A dream is not only dream, a dream is the astral plane. Most people stay in their little bubble, were they are in control. Prisoner of the mind I call that, but you have control though. But if you go out of it, you lose the dream control for a big part, and the deeper you go into there, the more you find there....both nice..and bad. This is how dreamwalking evolves, you need to get out fo that bubble and travel the astral freely before you can do so. But alot people refuse to give up control, dont believe, are to impatient, to little willpower etc.

Of course you dont have to believe that ^_^

Well if you don't believe it then a dream is always a dream, and no matter what you do it will never hurt you. And if you do then supposably
by the time you find something weird or crazy enough to make you go nuts you should know what your doing and be fine.

I believe that your fears can take forms of people or creatures and be used against you in different forms and different ways in the dream world.
When I say being used against you I mean, used to kill you. You mind can explore through the dream world unlocking new doorways, unlocking the wrong one could unlock a fear you have in this reality. The fear could be anything, but in the dream world it would be exaggerated and may take the form of anything.
The fear would build up inside of you bringing your mind to loose control. This could mean psychologially hurting you or bringing to have a heart attack etc.

      My theory.

Wouldn't be the fear or excitement that kills you and not the dream...? All that kills you is your interpretation.

i have to dispute. Say an 80 year old man is having a lucid dream, and he has a sexual encounter with a younger, really attractive woman, and he gets so excited, his heart stops. OR he already has heart problems, and he gets way too excited, and dies.

I would say its the dream killed you then. Maybe there should be a warning on the website "Do not try lucid dreams if you have a history of heart problems."

Thats bullshit because a normal dream could do that to you as well.

Thats true, you could even be one of the people who never remebers their dreams. Wouldn't even have to remeber that dream it happens in either.

Beserk got it right. You can't die from a dream- except perhaps from a heart attack, or like, a panic attack.

Everybody has dreams every night, and if they could kill you like that, America would probably have only 25% of it's current population.
