Re-experienced my morning in a dream

This morning, I woke up and went to school to write an exam. I then came back home and had a 1 hour nap. Everything I dreamt about related strictly to what happened in the 4 hours I was awake this morning.

      - (This morning I showed someone the socks my grandmother knitted for me.) I dreamt that I had a hole in my sock.

      - (I was quite tired when I was writing the exam, and noted I would have a nap when I got home.) I dreamt that as soon as I finished the exam, I went to sleep for a couple hours at my desk.

      - (After leaving the exam room, I was checking out a bunch of girls by their lockers as I walked by.) I dreamt leaving the exam room (after being asleep for a couple hours) and walking pass them and this time giggling to myself.

      - (Before leaving school I was going to go to the cafeteria to see if anyone from the exam was there and to see how they found it, but I got interrupted by someone on the way and talked to her for a bit, then I just decided to head home.) I dreamt that I went to the cafeteria and sat around for a bit talking about the exam.

So I basically re-experienced my morning, with some twists, in an hour, and then woke up.

I’m speculating that dreams are restricted to events or thoughts of the current day, after the last sleeping period. Out-standing events or thoughts from weeks or years ago seem to be able to appear, however. But you typically don’t dream about typical events from previous days, do YOU?

A lot of my dreams do seem to relate to things I've been thinking about recently, but I don't often reexperience things that I've gone through during my waking hours (I don't think... maybe this would be a good time to go back and read through the dreams I wrote down just to be sure). Several of my dreams, though, don't seem to have anything to do with anything at all. Fairly often, I also have dreams about seemingly the most insignificant thoughts I had during the day, often that I only think about once and move on without spending much time on them. Though this doesn't necessarily happen every time.

I once re-experienced a whole day at school (not in full, it was a choppy dream but you never notice that untill you wake up). The only thing I remember doing differently was that I walked home. Which is quite a long way. I woke up while I was still walking.
