How long do you think lucid dreams go on for, do they seem to go on for 9 hours, or however long you sleep, or how long normal dreams are?
Hey, the longest lucid dream I have ever had seemed to go on for about 20-30 minutes. The longer ones I have had are broken up lucidity. What I mean is I might have a dream that goes for 1 hour and during that dream I will go to and from being lucid 3 or 4 times.
My lucid dreams usually feel like the last between 5 and 15 minutes. I haven't had the chance to try time expansions yet, but it's definitley on my to-do list. Usually, my ld's end either because I forget I'm dreaming, hence returning to a normal dream, or because I do something that wakes me up (but she's so hot, it's almost worth it!). I've never been in an LD so long that I reach the point where I'm forced to wake up.
I havent had too many long ones, the longest being about 10 minutes, but in a dream you can get a bit done in 10 mins
edit* Had about a fifteen minte one recently
Wow, the parts when I used to go lucid seemed like 30 mins, It's very cool how your mind tricks you into thinking things are longer or shorter!
Mine never seem to last very long but a lot of things happen in the short time span.
Judging as realistically as possible, my longest lucid dreams so far have only been a few minutes long, but a fair amount can take place in just a few minutes. (The shortest ones, occurring during very light sleep, have lasted about 15-30 seconds. ;))
On the other hand, my longest non-lucid dreams usually feel like they last about 45-60 minutes. It's hard to estimate actual passage of time, though, since the longer ones seem to utilize time compression in the form of missing scenes. I don't know if the scenes are really missing or if I just don't remember them for some reason. Usually fairly insignificant events are dropped; for instance, I might be somewhere one moment and somewhere else the next and "know" I had walked from one place to the other, but not remember actually doing it. Or I might see the consequences of an action I just performed but not actually remember performing the action.
I've had non-lucid dreams where it would be afternoon at the beginning of the dream and later sunset and then night later, but those dreams don't feel like they've actually lasted a whole day, more like 30-60 minutes, probably due to time compression.
I have yet to experience missing scenes in lucid dreams, though. It may be because they're not long enough. It seems that if I were lucid in a dream and there was a missing scene, though, I ought to notice it right away, and it would have to feel pretty odd.
Edit: Oops, I just read through my recording of my longest lucid dream so far, and it does appear there were missing scenes in it as well. I'm still not sure if they were really missing or if I just didn't remember them. But a lot of things were fishy in that dream that I didn't notice as such, even though I was lucid.
I had one 5 second LD and one LD that felt like 10 minutes =)
