Try a banana and a bake potato an hour before bed.
This may only put you to sleep for the first few times but keep trying.
The proccess of lucid dreaming has a lot of aspects to it. Even what you do in your waking hours effects the dream time.

Also you might want to keep a diary right next to your bed. If you have a dream and write it down that promotes long term memory. This will increase your memory recall. Better dream recall could strengthen your lucid ability.
