When you become more expereienced with dream control....

This is a question im very curious about. When you become more experienced wtih dream control, when you fall asleep into a REM cycle, can you just up and decide what you want to dream about? Or do you have dreams, and you can control what happens in these random dreams. And if you can control everything, is it possible to shut off the creative part of the brain that usually takes you to random places, and meet random people in your mind?

The idea is to remain in a state of departure while always arriving

I have thought of scenes, people, etc. in the pre-sleep state that unfold into a fully-fledged LD many, many times. I have also let dreams unfold as they will whilst controlling certain aspects. Controlling EVERYTHING...scenes, DC's, etc. - is extremely hard, IMO. I think I've achieved that perhaps 5-6 times in my life, and it's terribly draining. I also almost always in that situation have awakened quite quickly as well.

Just my opinion, but I think it's best to leave the brain in charge of the 'background' , and consciously 'edit' as desired...

I think maybe this is a little different for everyone. For me, dream scenes are the easiest to control. I just spin and it works great every time. However, I have a really difficult time controlling dream characters. In fact, it hasn't really worked for me yet.
