i was just wondering if someone was in a coma..do they still dream, or is everything just black?? cuz if they are in a continuing dream cycle..that would be awesome..to be in a LD and have no choice but to stay in it lol..anywayz..does anyone know the answer to my question?

I've never been in a coma.
Theorizing about consciousness and never truly losing it I came to thinking that it may very well be true that we never actually completely lose consciousness. Ever.
When we are awake our mind thinks, when we are asleep it thinks (hypnagogia, then dreams) and so on. Thus, it may very well be true that comas are the same, after all, the mind doesn't stop working during them.
People in coma's, depending on thier condition, may still be semi-conscious and capable of dreaming. It is said that people in comas can still hear things and perceive them even if they dont remember afterwards. I would be inclined to think that the brain couldn't just shut itself down for so long. I imagine this is part of the reason we need to sleep. It will be interesting to see the therapeutic value of lucid dream therapy with coma patients.
