Try paying more attention to the world around you while you're awake. Whenever you get a moment to yourself (so people aren't staring at you wondering wtf you're doing) just take the time to look around, start analyzing things, solidifying them as waking-world or dream matter. Whenever something weird happens (something weird is always happening to me, I dunno about you) stop, and honestly ask yourself whether or not you're dreaming.
Remember how long it took for you to get to wherever you are, after waking up. Did you wake up this morning? What did you do right after you woke up? Things like that. The more you question your surroundings when you're awake, with conviction, the more you'll start to do the same by habit while dreaming. Do this for a while. Don't rush it. Give it time.
Also, make sure you're getting enough sleep. I'm a bit of a hypocrite, because I only get about 6 hours a night, and here I am writing on DV.

yeah, i second the above advice.
if i don't pay much attention to waking life, i don't become lucid. however, if i examine situations with the same sort of mindset as i would have if i knew i was lucid dreaming (interested/fascinated/fully in the moment), i start having lucids again.
good luck. think of it this way...after so much time and effort (and 'half-lucids"), you are closer than ever to a huge breakthrough...one day closer.. :)

Dont give up. It may take time, but it is well worth it. I agree with Oneironaut. Questioning your surroundings is key. What I usually do for reality checks is read a piece of text (the title of a book, a road sign, a digital clock, etc.) and then look away for a few seconds and then look back. If the text changes, then you are dreaming. It is very difficult to maintain details like that in a dream. You may be able to read something once, but 2 or 3 times and it will morph into something else. This is a dead giveaway. The whole time you should be asking yourself "Am I dreaming?...how can I be sure?". If you do this enough times it will become more of an automatic instinct. Also, whenever anything out of the ordinary happens (loud unexplained sounds, flashes of light, a car crash, flying pink elephants, etc.) ask yourself if this is a dream and do a reality check. This is the main thing that has worked for me.
Keep in mind that you need to be getting good solid sleep. I would recommend setting an alarm for early in the morning (on a sunday) to like 5am. Wake up, eat breakfast, check your email or whatever for about an hour. Go to sleep for a few more hours. When you wake up the second time, do not leave the bed or move at all. Try to ease yourself back into the dreaming state and keep your mind focused on a particular scene or setting. If you get the timing right, you can fall straight into a dream state and go lucid. Since you are still somewhat awake, it is easier to retain consciousness (at least in my experience). I was able to have my first planned lucid dream using this method about 2 weeks after I started trying, but I guess everyone is a little different.

Keep going. And more advice, try not to get nervous or anxious before going to bed. It will definitly to meditate and focus your intent before going to bed.
If you keep a dream journal you can always try looking over all your past dreams and finding things which seem to repeat themself. If you just focus on them, you will have a decent chance of them repeating again, and you may just catch it.
Use some mp3's. It worked wonders for me. They're in the Attaining lucidity section.
Even if it lucid dreaming comes difficult to you, keeping a jounral will work wonders on your recall which is a great reward in and of itself.

I had a pretty long lucid dream last night!!! in it i got the chance to create a lightning storm, have everyone around me explode in a fireball, reverse time, make time go slower, fly, hover around, and make love to jennifer aniston...so, i am stoked. i wasn't consious though...i still had my dream mind going if you get what i mean.
I am a little confused about wether you were lucid ar not. You say you weren't consious what do you mean by that? did you lose lucidity?Quote:

sorry. i don't really know what i mean either...i realized i was dreaming and i started doing different things consiously...like, i am going to try to strike my friend with lightning...but then i found myself sneaking around so my mom wouldn't see me (for no reason) so I was not lucid at that point, but i actually was. this is hard to explain....damn. also, i didn't look around and i was not aware of any of my senses...does that help you?
next time i become lucid i am just going to look around and become aware of touch and smell and everything...hopefully it won't take another 3 months!

From the sounds of It, you may have just lost control and not lucidity, but you are the only one who can tell.

i know exactly what you mean....i had a dream like that today......i noticed somthing weird in my dream and decided to do a reality check (breathing thru your nose) and it worked.....but then i lost control and continued with my dream.....any advice to keep control would be greatly appreciated..

Have you had alot on your mind lately?
I always find that if I want to LD on any day, it needs my undivided attention for that particular day. We broke up for shcool yesterday, so I was able to put lots of effort into LDing, and I had one no problem.

no, i just don't recognize dreamsigns very well. i haven't had another dream sense that lucid though :mad: Hopefully tonight I will become lucid again!
