interesting thought..

ever had an experience where it felt like there was no up, down, or direction? its like everything is all relative

and one other thing

we all know the theory of "everything is what we make of it" well it is totally true when u think about it because things really are only what we make of them, did u ever read a word over and over only with each repeating time it only makes less sense???

try it, and realize that the word only means to you what you have experienced it as, but when you repeatedly read/say it, its just a bunch of sounds that dont have any meaning

Sometimes as I am falling asleep (or just waking up) I will loose my bearings. So I will believe I am sleeping on the other end of the bed until I open my eyes. On a few occasions I felt like my whole body was spinning and the bed was on the ceiling even though I knew I wasn't moving. I believe this is called vertigo and yes, everything is relative.

haha that sounds pretty awesome

oh yeah and i forgot,

i also one time was laying down with some friends in the driveway looking up at the sky ( it was a pretty trippy sky ) and it felt almost like the sky was the ground and we were looking down, (awesome feeling)

About the first part of the topic, unfortunately I haven't experienced such a curious experience. However it seems plasuable within a dream indeed considering the mental capabilities within the dream state.

But as for the second part:
Such topics are beginning to come across to me as somewhat odd...
Concepts are concepts. Of course they're what we make of them, what's the opposite of this idea? There is no opposite. We exist in the world by means of our senses, how else would we go about it? Thus concepts exist as descriptions of themselves but since we communicate by speech instead of mentally on the level of conceptual thought, we have words to relay concepts faster than describing them (which takes no time at all through conceptual thought and ages to describe fully with words).

On the topic of words, one take the idea a step further, considers how different words hold different meanings for different people. Take the word "father." Now, someone who's grown up in a loving home with a loving father will look upon that word with a positive outlook, whereas another may have grown up with an abusive father and think negatively when they hear that word.

I think that's another reason people have a hard time expressing exactly what we mean to someone else, especially when relating specifics in dreams, because we each have had different experiences and no one can see the exact same thing as another.

I do that all the time

Perception is reality. We are only capable of understanding what is around us through our biological senses. When you look up to the sky it feel like you are actually looking down onto the clouds. Your brain is percieving itself as the "right" latitude. The same would happen when looking down. Your brain would use its location as a point of reference. The same effect would occur.
