      Latest Plans For Lucidity

Okay, I make no secret of it, as of late I've sucked at lucid dreaming. I guess that I've just not had the incentive to go on with it I guess.

Anyway, a little hobby of mine is writing short, inconsequential stories and a terrible habit of mine is creating complex back stories for even the most minor characters like 'Guy Who Walks Past... maybe he as three kids and lives with his secretary?'. So yeah, you can imagine the stupid length I'm going to now that I've decided to white a novel sized story.

Now, what's spurring me on with lucidity right now is to in essence 'meet my characters', I'd like to have one on one sessions with each one discussing how they feel, how they'd react to certain situations etc and generally getting to know their lifestyles.

It's a stupid idea I know, but has anyone else here tried something like this?

I don't think that's a stupid idea at all -- I think it's an excellent one. A lot of people enjoy meeting characters from other people's stories in their dreams -- why not your own?

Unfortunately, I can't say that I've ever tried anything like that, but it sounds good to me.

      Hey D,

Well, I hope you really don't think that's a stupid idea - because one of my goals is to meet the characters in my paintings and interact in the environment in which I set them in. So far, no luck. The night I am succesful, however, you'll be among the first to know!

As far as advice on getting to meet these characters, I think your best bet would be to do so through a WILD. Once you find yourself awake at some point in the middle of the night, start recapping one of these stories that you've created. Visualize it in your mind. But be sure not to get too caught up in it, or you may keep yourself awake all night. There's a very specific balance between awareness and sleep that you need to maintain as you walk through that dream portal.
