Repetitive dreams
Hi
I am a newbie here (see my presentation here http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28168 ).
I would want to know if several of you construct coherent and long term lasting universes in non lucid dreams. I got 2 kinds of interesting (at last for me ;) ) non lucid dreams.
First category is repetitive dream, some kind of nightmares, for me.. Like by chased by a terrible monster, running in tunnel, going out the tunnel just to barely escape a huge rock launched by the monster, etc. I did this one several times, some years ago. But, each time I did it again, I was more and more tranquil. I was getting sure that the monster would not get me. I knew that at the exit of tunnel, a rock would miss me, etc. No lucid dreaming, no remembrance that I was dreaming, but… like it I was just a step away from lucid dreaming.
The second category is a repetitive dream a repetitive place. In my dream, I often went in a big city, always the same. I met people. And the city was alive. I remember driving, finding a blocked street because a roadwork, and six months later, in another dreams, the roadwork was finished and I could drive in this street again!
Do you have some repetitive experiences like this to share?

Hey there, I thought I'd better reply since no one else has... :(
I've also have some repetitive dreams. Maybe not detail for detail, but the same general things happen to me. Like I'm back at my old high school, and I can't remember my locker combination, or I bring the wrong books to class, or I can't find the classroom.
These are excellent opportunities for LDs because of their repetitive nature. Most of the time when I have these repetitive dreams, they are non-lucid, but I'm working to recognize more of the dreamsigns to become lucid. I don't know why I have such a hard time with these ones. :?

I haven't had an experience exactly like this, but I've had something similar. For example, there have been times where I've woken up in the morning and had a very strong sensation that I've seen that specific dream scene before. Not the same dream, but the same place; somewhere I don't know if waking life. It is a very odd sensation, and I think it would be pretty cool to learn more about this and use it to my advantage.

I find these repetitious themes very important for analysis. I have several themes, some of which have occurred throughout my life.
I usually don't interpret individual dreams, unless they stick out for some reason. Instead, I look for patterns and changes in the patterns. For repetitious dreams, like you mention, I will go back through them and look for common details about. I don't mean, common things like the same sort of big city. Instead, I focus more on, what do I do there? How do I feel? How do people interact with me? Do I always get lost? Etc. I then figure out what these may say about me and how I go through life or what they say about personal issues I haven't faced.
Without getting too personal (I think)... I have many dreams in which peole threaten or assault me. I know the source of these dreams. However, I only recently went through them in the manner I stated above. In doing so, I found that they reflected more than just a past incident in my life. In these, I am always unable to defend myself. Either my punches are too weak, or can't break their hold, or whatever. I realized that these dreams showed me an unrecognized sense of powerlessness as a result of the incident I mentioned. Interestingly, after identifying this, I noticed a change in the dreams. Although never really defending myself normally, I begin to either see how I might defend myself or else sort of become someone else who can defend me. I think this indicates some much needed psychological growth.
So I suggest not using these as a platform for LDs right away. Instead, spend some time with them and see if they tell you anything important, perhaps something you need to know.
