      anime dreams anyone??

has anybody ever had an anime or some other cartoon dream?

i had an anime one time. naturally i was in japan, had an anime roommate with a hello kitty collection and all the other cute stuff that japanese chiks seem to like. wish i had thought to look in the mirror-i always wanted to know how i'd look like in anime loool. maybe my brain just wanted to try something novel for a change. it's the only time i ever had such a dream.

I hate anime in all of it's forms! But still, I used to watch animeseries called "Love Hina", but not anymore, pheww. I hate the style of anime, they're just too much.
Keep on dreaming in the... real world?

I often have dreams in anime.

The last one I can remember i was in some kind of school (naturally being an anime) with lots of girls around. lol it was awesome

I tried looking at myself in the mirror too, it turned out extremely well and i actually ended up doing a pic on it.

wait...isn't anime in 2D, it'd be hard to really get a sence of reality...well, as much reality as you can get in a cartoon.......i'll agree tho, sounds a good idea

Never had an anime dream, but sometimes I have dreams where the world looks like CG (computer graphics), and is very cartoony.

I tend to agree with the comment about 2D. I mean, we all see in 3D, and even when you only have one eye open, in which case you technically see 2D you see a lot more depth then in anime. It would be very difficult for your brain to process the anime into a 3D scene you can interpret. i don't know if I want an anime dream though. It would be above my weirdness level, and too odd for my brain (and I have a very high weird factor).

i recently had a sleep paralysis episode that i surpassed into a very vivid, TOTALLY ANIMATED dream. it looked like an episode of ren and stimpy and featured fully animated versions of all the past presidents and their wives marching in a procession around a room. VERY visually intense, full of pinks and purples.

My second LD was based on the game mario bros, which is also 2D. What happened was all the objects were in fact 3D, but given a 2D style to them like in the games. Looking in the distance I could see a flat 2D background or so it seemed.

The anime one was similar, its hard to describe in detail but it maneges to keep the anime style but in a slightly more 3D look (hope that made sense)

      Anime in 3D =

      Problem Solved.
(...and if you like anime, and haven't seen this movie^, you need to be taken outside and beaten severely.)

I've had one 2D anime dream, that I can remember.

I was a DBZ universe character, flying with the Z fighters through the clouds over an ocean, at night. We were on our way to some base or some shit, but we were mostly just enjoying the flight there.
I remember, at one point, lowering my ki to stop flying and fell out of the clouds toward the ocean, free-falling all the way down, backfirst, straight toward the water. Before my back touched the ocean, I kicked up my energy to the point where it made a huge dent in the surface of the water, and I shot forward like a missile, spraying up water all around behind me as we all flew toward land.
We made it to the base and had some sort of fight with about a hundred little green things. They were almost like saibamen, but not quite. Don't remember too much of that part, though.

So it is possible to have an animated dream?

Absolutely. I've had one cartoon dream that I can think of, that wasn't anime. It was when I was about 9 years old, but I still remember One detail from it.
My cousin and I were riding a dirtbike through a grocery store. I was driving it, and there was a gremlin (from the movie) chasing us through the aisles of the department store. It was all in painty, cell-shadish fashion, but it's really just one still image from the dream that I still remember to this day.

Now that I think of it, the best way to imagine 2D anime in a 3D environment is Tales of Symphonia. Cell shaded and 2D looking graphics in a 3D scene

That's great. I find sometimes I see things I never would have imagined. How well does your drawing represent what you saw? I'd like to see it sometime.

Its at my deviantart gallery (http://tailsgc.deviantart.com/) called 'anime me' or something.

Its not completely different, same colour hair and eyes (almost), even the same kind of clothes I was wearing at the time, but it's far from perfect I have a picture of myself in the 'scraps' section if you want to compare.

The only problem is that back then I was not so good at drawing, so the proportions are really messed up.

It's quite odd actually, i've had a dream in the real world (so to speak) but with a few anime looking characters...quite odd, so yer, i take back my comment i made earlier

I had a lucid dream last night where I was speaking with a real life looking version of Yuffie from FF7:Advent Children. She was telling me how to say "Japanese" in Japanese. She mentioned it was "jutsu" but I didn't believe her because languages had been wrong in the past.

I just looked up the word now in a Romanji dictionary and saw that it means "art" or "technique" which I found fascinating. I don't know how that word came about. I may have heard it sometime in the past, but I have no real experience with Japanese at all.

This is borderline Anime, because she looked more human than even the movie. But the significance of that word has some meaning to me now.

Hmmm, you may have got "jutsu" from "jujustu" the japanese matial arts...and since its a word that we hear from time to time, chances are the brain could try and make it mean something else if the literal translation wasn't known

That could be, but I didn't know that jujutsu was Japanese.

Just so your dream-characters get it right in future, 'japanese' as in the language, in japanese is 'nihon-go'/'nippon-go' or 日本語 :3 I wasnt quite sure how I'd imagine an animé dream, but then again, if I try to visualise a random bit of animé with random characters etc. I can see it quite vividly!
