Memory
Hello and welcome to the memory thread :fro: :reading: :sunflower:
Today is my first sober day in.......probably 5 years.
I'm 18, and I've been a pothead since 13.
Today I am finally giving up the weed, and the alcohol,
because dreaming is more important
to me that sedatives. For now. ;)
Other than giving up two substances that TOTALLY screw up my memory,
what are some other suggestions you guys can give on
improving memory?
I meditate, :meditate:
should I take any sort of supplement? My friend was trying to tell me about this crazy OMEGA complex stuff,
but It sounded way tooo crazy to even trust . .
Russians! :wino:
I barely ever recall dreams,
but when I do they are absolutely
brilliant,
I seem to dream wilder than my imagination,
and I WANT TO REMEMBER!
If only I could remember,
then maybe I'd become self-aware again.
Thank you all,
-
Well congratulations on your sobriety! :goodjob: Dreaming will be A LOT easier for you now - as you already know.
I can't give a lot of advice about memory (since mine is not so hot either), but I try to focus on everything I'm doing. Sometimes I get so busy and multi-tasking that it seems like I run on auto-pilot. So I try to slow down and concentrate on every move and thought. It really helps me become aware of what I'm doing, and can therefore remember things better.

well as annoying and hard as this may seem your going to have to start up a dream journal, the moment you wake up flip on the light pull out your journal and start writing. you might think "I can just go over them in my head when i wake up and ill remember them" but the truth is you cant and you wont,
write down every detail that you can remember, even if the dream seemed stupid and had no logical meaning whatsoever, write down everything that you remember from scents to tactile sensations.
in the event that you actually do this every single day of the week, you'll find yourself vividly remembering 3 to 5 dreams a night, this in turn makes any lucid dreams you might have much better because you actually remember the entire dreams rather than just becoming lucid
(note: be prepared to give up 30 minutes to an hour in the morning writing down all your dreams as vividly as possible)
have fun with that :)
PS/edit: I don't recommend popping B6 until you already have very good recall, from my experiences I can tell you that, although it makes your dreams much more intricate and detailed, it also makes much much harder to recall

thanks guys,
I already have a dream journal,
I've been documenting everything I remember for
over a year now.
But I used to smoke ganja everyday,
so most nights were just rest.
-
p.s. Im a poet,
writing isn't annoying
I get a kick out of it.

My friend told me I should start taking Omega3,6, and 9
as well as ginko.
I've never been a fan of taking supplements . .
I'm a hippy, they seem strange to me,
what do you guys think?
To take or not to take?
I'll try the B6 like you said,
when I'm more experienced.
-
I think the best thing to do now is, not taking anything at all. Coming out of a period of taking assorted stuffs that screw with your head and going into another one isn't a hot idea. Work on clean recollection, then experiment with other things, after all... if you've taken pot, you shouldn't have a problem with vitamins and such.
-
Hmmmm, good idea.
Does anyone know anything about the Omega complexes and how they affect memory, though?
And what about ginko? WTF Is ginko?
I'll stay sober this month, and then start experimenting with those things
on a daily basis, IF they are actually worth it.

I really don't think you need to take any supplements (I never have). Quitting smoking and drinking will be enough.

:microwave: can't wait to dream lucidly again
