Need help getting logical answers in my dream!

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to use my lucid dreams to get answers to things (like why do I think this and what should I do in this situation) from what I guess is my subconsious.

The problem is i've only gotten a logical answer once (the first time I asked a question). The other times I get answers which make no sense or I get no answer at all. I asked one person something and they seemed to think about it but not reply. Another time I asked a question of "what should I do in this situation (I won't say the situation here)" and the reply I got was "Board of Studies questions should be asked at the Board of Studies" (the Board of Studies is the organisation who writes our high school exams, so it didn't really make sense as my question had nothing to do with them...).

Is there a way to get clearer answers in my lucid dreams or is that just the answers I should expect in dreams? I want to use my lucid dreams to help me (rather than just to play around all the time) but so far its not really working...

I wish I could stay Lucid long enough to actually ask a question. So, sorry.... I can't help. Sounds like you are doing good with your lucidity though.

I think what you really need to do, is when you ask the question, don't think, KNOW that you are gonna get a meaningful response, and you will. Remember, the whole situation is in your mind, so if you believe something enough it WILL be true.

Yeah, I'm going okay, i just hope that my having lucid dreams now continues for as long as possible because i'm not 100% sure how i've managed to have lucid dreams so frequently. Also, if you are having trouble staying lucid, you could read up on suggestions in the forum on prolonging lucid dreams? (that is, if you haven't already) I did and it seemed to help a little.

I'm not sure how I will manage to know i'll get a meaningful response, when I asked the question to one person in my dream (I really expected to get a response and everything, I can remember thinking about how well it was going and how natural it all felt), they thought about it, but never replied.

Is there any way which I can convince myself to believe the answer I get will be meaningful? I kinda think I already expected it to be meaningful when I asked (but then if I think about it, maybe I wasn't competely expecting it to work?).

I'm still confused as to what to do, tonight (going to bed soon) if I have a lucid dream i'll try again knowing i'll get a meaningful answer and see if it works, but I think i've already expected a meaningful answer before (so i'm not sure, but I think i've already tried this... it's hard to say with lucid dreams seeing as I don't remember exactly what I was thinking during the dream...)

Anyway, thanks a heap for your replies and help, does anyone else on the forum know what else I could do if this doesn't work? I'm not sure if there is a technique to really get meaningful answers (like there is for inducing lucid dreaming and for staying in lucid dreams for longer).

Any more help would be appreciated, thanks!

You could also try summoning or turning to someone you know from reali life that you know would give you a straight answer. You could also ask questions that require a narrow answer. Try a yes/no question and see if that helps.

invadergarf, you DO NOT need to be lucid in order to do this. Simply use dream incubation regarding your situations. Before going to sleep, think about the issue, how and why you are divided. The more you do this, the more you get the hang of it.

For example, I had a situation where I wasn't sure whether to "share myself with other people" or "hold myself hostage in the presence of others". I had a dream where my family was about to leave a mall, when I just walked off and did whatever I pleased. I knew when it was time to come back, and two of them were looking for me. We headed to the car, only to have my family drive off with my mom or I.

It's not always a dream character that will answer your questions. Sometimes, it's the symbolic actions you take. From that dream I got the feeling "just live my life".

That's a great idea, the only problem is i've tried summoning people I know from real life (spent whole lucid dreams where i'm trying to get them to appear) but I just can't seem to summon them (or when I do they aren't there for long so I can't really ask them anything).

That might work, the first question I asked had a very narrow answer (only two possible replies) and I got an answer to it. The only problem is, I worry that with a narrow answer, the answer might not be true. The answer I got from the first question I ever asked kinda seemed like it was just a random choice from the two options rather than any answer from my subconcious. One of the questions i've been trying to ask is to clarify the first answer I got (instead of asking which one of these is true, i'm asking why the answer was true... if that makes sense).

Is there anyway to be sure the answer I get is correct? Is it possible that the answer will just be random?

I think about the issue often before bed already, it kinda does come up in my dreams, but not really in a way which I can get an answer (maybe i'm not looking hard enough?). I'll try paying attention to the decisions I take in dreams, especially when it seems to be related to what i'm trying to find out and see if it gives me an answer also. Thanks for the idea though, I hadn't heard of dream incubation before (just looked it up on Google now :D ) so maybe it will work.
