A dream guide is believed to be a manifestation of your subconscious. since he/she/it is your subconscious they know everything about the dreamworld and its properties.
they usually teach you how to do things (teleport, fly, shoot lasers out of your eyes etc..) but they're mostly so you have a companion in the dream realm to go with you on your adventures. you could also ask them any question you want to get your subconscious' answer (they aren't stupid like most DCs, they often are very intelligent and really logical to talk to)
that's what I understand them as.
(note: people often see them as angels, separate consciousnesses just helping out the dreamer, and one guy I talked to said they were assigned by a dream corporation (on another plane of existence :)) to help out dreamers, only the most elite of lucid dreamers were assigned as DGs )
Thanks for the info. Is there any particular way to find out who your dream guide is and 'summon' them?
you just call out for him/her (just yell "dreamguide" like your calling it by its name), when it comes it should give you its real name, then in your next LDs just call out the name it gives you to summon it again
or it might just appear in one of your LDs as an extremely intelligent DC
You may even have more than one, or one that changes every now and then. That's kind of what has happened with me.
I haven't had a LD yet but when I do I plan on talking to my dream guide. Since I don't know who or what my dream guide will be, for now I just imagine it as Yoda. Anyways, I lost my mini-flashlight the other day and I've been looking all over for it. I'm going to ask my DG where it is and see if he/she can tell me.
I doubt it will work but it's worth a try.
