Is it possiable to confront fears in a LD???

i have an extreme fear of spiders :shock:
medium sized ones-i get as far away from them as i can,
large ones that i see close to me suddenly- i scream and run away

any advice on getting over my fear of spiders by confronting that fear in an LD???

i have heard that it is possiable, i just don't know how........

In a word: Absolutely.

Confront a spider in your lucid dream. Remind yourself that the spider cannot hurt you. (This is a good mindset to have, because this is true of most spiders you'll probably come in contact with, in waking life.) Once you're comfortable, pick up the spider, hold it in your hand. Let it walk around your hand a while and just get used to it.
The most important thing about facing fears in dreams is pretty much the most imporant thing about facing them in waking life; staying in control of yourself. Stay calm and realize that it's harmless, and you're looking at it as an object of interest, not a threat. :wink:

I had an extreme arachnophobia as well, till my sister got a tarantula. As I looked at it, banged my fingers on his plastic cage, my fear subsided. Now I fear spiders a lot less.

About dreams - lucid or not, I saw a bunch of huge spiders there, but I wasnt all that afraid, however I'm not sure if that happened before or after my sister got her spider.

My advice would be : try facing spiders in real life first, you will notice that they have absolutely no interest in you or intent on harming you. You can think of the usual : "you can squish that spider so easily" crap, but that didnt work for me. Then you can lessen your fear even further by looking at spiders in a LD. I wouldnt advice you to face spiders in a LD while still being extremely afraid of them, especially if you are not all that good at control and self defense, cause if something bad happens it may make you even more scared. Face real life spiders first, look at them in a pet store or at your friends'.

Actually, i'm even more afraid of suqishing them :oops: /i don't like squishing bugs....after watching the TV show Fear Factor, i really feel sorry for bugs..... :happyme:
