My Opinion on the Purpose of Lucid Dreaming

      Ok,

Lately i been doing a lot of thinking on lucid dreaming. Some of the big questions ive been debating on include; Why are we capable of having them? What can we achieve by having them? and lastly how can we better ourselves through the use of lucid dreaming?

See instead of just going into a lucid dream strictly for entertainment value and running amock like an extremely realistic virtual reality, (which i don't condemn at all) I try to imagine that maybe their is an actual purpose that we are capable of doing this. Maybe there is a way we can achieve something, something that will actually help us in our awakened world.

So what i have come up with is basically is a theory that lucid dreaming is a way for our conscious mind to interact and direct how our subconscious mind works. See normally are subconscious is controlled without any thought or merit or any real thinking behind it, its almost like its on auto-pilot. And since our subconscious acts in this peculiar way, we really don't have any sincere control over what happens, or how it works. So the point Im trying to succumb to is that, I believe a lucid dream is like entering the admistrative options or diagnostics of our subconscious. It's a way for our conscious mind to offer insight and directions on how we would like our subconscious to work. And the fact that this "diagnostic options" is being played off as "our awakened world" with different DC's and dream scenario's, is simply because it is our subconscious portraying itself in a light that our conscious mind can understand and recognize. So maybe a certain dream character or dream scenario might actually symbolize a certain aspect of our subconscious.

So if this is true then, the things we once believed about ourselves that could not be changed (because we had no conscious control over them) may infact actually be able to be changed. If we enter a lucid dream with a purpose of altering something in our subconscious, then maybe we can achieve things that we never thought were possible. (because ya know - anything is possible). Theoretically we could erase bad memories or conjure up very early memories. Maybe we could tell our subconscious to continue producing growth hormones and grow up to seven feet tall or tell it to battle against our depressions and other mental problems. Or what if we could actually direct our sub-conscious to fight disease or disorders. The possibilities our endless.

      What do you think?

I like the idea of pulling up hidden memories from the subconcious. If we did have a past life could we view what we were and when (what time period?). I think these will be some great test in a lucid, discover hidden memories.

While your in a lucid simply state..."sub-concious show me a past life!"
And see what it returns back! Of course you need to believe in past lives etc. but that's just an example. I think the possibilities are limitless with the subconcious!

After thinking about this some more, I really believe this is entirely possible. I read that about 10 percent of people hypnotised are able to reach a deep hypnosis very easily. And in this deep hypnosis they can literally program their subconscious to create physiological changes in their life... Some of these include inhibiting allergic reactions, inducing anesthia, stop bleeding, and even controlling the spread of cancer........ Just think of the capabalities of lucid dreaming, its the closest we can get to our subconscious - were basically face to face with it.
