Beginner's luck?

I seemed to do OK when I first started reading about LD, and I had several over the course of a few weeks and I was very encouraged. Now, nothing for a few weeks. Did that happen to other people when they first started? And if so, did you start having LD's again eventually? Do most people who keep trying end up with the ability to have lucids on a regular basis? Do you find the induction method that works the best for you and stick with that?

That did happen to me. When I started LDing, I did okay for the first few weeks, then I just sort of lost interest. Lucid dreams is something you've gotta stick with. I've been searching for a few good ways to induce dreams. The finger induced lucid dream works, and so does the hypnotic imagery technique, for me anyways.

I try to broaden my horizons. I have been sticking with the hypnotic imagery technique for a while now, and just last night, I did a FILD, and it worked, so I might be using a FILD a bit more.

What happened to me, was I just stopped trying for a while, and I had no LD's at all, I even tried a bit. Lucid dreams require that determination.

Happened to me too. During the first couple weeks I got my recall up to 3 or 4 a night, and LDed at least 3 times. I had great recall, and was spending about 30+ minutes DJing every day. This then abruptly ended, and I still don't have my recall back, but I have found a technique that works for me (excessive RCs combined with self-suggestion), and now am having an LD or 2 a week for the last few weeks. I really need to get motivated to DJ though. Throughout the night I remember dreams, but I never write them down or imbue them in my memory (which I used to do), and don't remember them in the morning. You have to keep at it, as you are probably in a dry spell, and your LDing skills will return after your dry spell better than ever.

I believe what you say. Already I am remembering dreams a little better. It will come back (hear that, subconscious?).
