I have a struggle falling asleep

      Hey all

The last 2 years, I've had a struggle sometimes, falling asleep. It's often because I know when I should get up. When I then lie in my bed, and roll over and see the clock, I get a bad feeling, because I am only gonna sleep maybe 6 hours. It then gets even more difficult for me to fall sleep. Often when my mind wander and I am almost falling asleep and I get that "feeling", my body gets aware and suddently I am all awake. It does not happen every night ofcourse, but it often happens :/ . I am getting a bit used to it, but it's really annoying. My sleep pattern is very distorted these days though, and it often turns out I awake like 13:00 in the day, and I can't sleep until 3 in the night. Today I got up at 15:00 actually, and right now it's 03:50.
I am trying to fix this problem, and my sleep pattern is almost normal.
But I still have the problem falling asleep. I actually don't have a problem falling asleep, if I don't have to get up to reach something, but when I have to get up that and that time, I have such a big struggle falling asleep. It's like everytime I try to get my thoughs on something else and I feel fine, the thought of getting up at the right time get at my mind. Sometimes I believe I'm never gonna fall asleep, and I am so relieved in the morning, after maybe 4 or 5 hours of sleep. But going to sleep, with only 4-6 hours of sleep is not comfortable. Sometimes I've even fallen asleep during class, and it's also difficult to concentrate, when I am so extremely tired.

Can somebody help me with this problem? I'd appreciate that '

Oh and by the way, I've already tried a few things. What I often do is just watching some TV, read a book and such. But when I really feel sleepy, turn of the TV, turn of the lights and I'm in my bed, I am totally awake. I've not tended to drink warm milk though. Any sort of tip is welcome. I might even want to try different music and such

      Thanks in advance

      Here's a guide I found:

      http://www.helpguide.org/life/sleep_tips.htm

NEVER look at the clock and think: "Only X hours to sleep left..." and then keep looking at it counting down the hours as they pass. You'll never get to sleep doing that!

I know that, but sometimes I fail, and look at the clock by accident

Okay, I read that article about sleeping, and I am gonna cover/turn away my alarm clock
I will also try to get a new mattress, when the chance is open. Last night (when I made this thread) it actually helped me a lot with some music running in the background. In Denmark we apparently have a radio channel, that plays piano all the night which is super. I love that sort of music, but there is one little problem; every 10th minute, the speaker says what the time is :@ I fell to sleep when listening to it, but it is still a bit annoying. I also think the problem might be the fact, that it's starting to lighten up when I am going to bed. Light seems to distort the biological body watch, which is not good for the sleep rythm/pattern. I am gonna try going to bed a bit earlier
Also, I found drinking warm milk good, but from what I read, it's best to do this just before you go to bed, but I don't like to eat or drink anything (except water) after I've brushed my teeth. Can I safely drink milk, without brushing my teeth afterwards, or will they rott away in the night ?

      Thanks in advance

      1. dim the lights and listen to calm, soft music. I prefer piano.
      2. Look up Meditation at wikipedia.org, and meditate while looking downwards. It'll help you become drowzy.
3.I make a little something with room temperature milk (heated via microwave, not left out on the counter), vanilla, sugar, and a touch (just for a aroma) of nutmeg/cinnamon or somthing. That helps me get drowzy in a hurry.
      4. relaxation.
      5. Sitting up in bed, and taking a baseball bat to the head. Always be in bed when using this technique, and have asprin ready in the morning.
      6. medication, such as cold medicine that makes one drowzy or sleeping pills, will help a great deal.
      7. excercising during the day
      8. Holding your breath until you pass out.
      9. waking up at an ungodly hour in the morning.
      10. eat a ton of turkey.
      11. ingest so much caffeine that it backfires and makes you sleepy instead of more alert.
      12. IV some sugar water into your system.

Just somethings I threw together that might you help fall asleep.
