I couldnt help but notice many similarities between talk of lucid dreaming and the amazing film The Matrix. Just thought id show this by starting a poll, add any comments if you will.

I would say in my experience it is very similar. When I am lucid I have to learn the rules so to speak, and then I can bend them, also letting go of all that you have learned is another thing... "free your mind" sorta thing...
That movie messed with my head, not because I thought we are all in some computer simulation, but because I beleive this to be not much different from the dream world, and that splinter that morpheus spoke of is jammed in the back of my mind as well.
Aha! I knew someone would understand.
um, *duh*
i made the connection when i first saw the movie
We live in the matrix, but it's not machines controlling us, it's our own decrepit psyches... Let go.. you will become Neo...
I have seen a Native American man jump 20ft in the air off of a rock, and the rock was about 50ft high off of the ground. He did a swan dive and then flipped up and righted himself. When he landed the ground shot out dust like a fucking bomb went off. He was fine... He said it was fun.
or maybe you mistook a dream for reality?
GRRR! I do that all the time! Nothing like something REALLY cool happening in a dream--like getting that goddamn VW Jetta I want so badly--and then waking up! No Jetta in the driveway! Just my crapass Chevy Citation.Quote:

Anyway, I'm waiting to wake up from the Matrix any day now. I haven't seen any white bunnies yet though. :P
i did dream about one, and i'm still trying to figure out if it ment something. it really seemed like one of those dreams you can interpret.
It wasn't a dream... my best friend was there with me...
yeah, IN the dream!
You can think it's a joke all you want... I was there, I know what I saw.
something liek that would be al over the news.
Oh yeah, cuz I totally had a video camera on me?
What?
Why the hell would it be on the news...
It was just some crazy Native American dude we met in the middle of the woods while smoking pot...
Like any one would believe us, you know?
But fuck that, I know what I saw, I wasn't all "fucked up" or anything.. just a little stoned...
Being stoned isn't going to make me hallucinate.
Like I said... take it or leave it...
... Maybe he was in shock and he didn't feel it and it was really only 10 feet because you were stoned...
I knew this one would come up sooner or later. 8)
The Matrix Trilogy is my favoritist favoritist movie trilogy of all time so far anyways. Can't wait to see what they'll be able to do over the next few years with digital and animation...

Not necessarily. there's lots of stuff (wacky, weird, miraculous, etc.) that happens every day that doesn't get news coverage. Why? The major networks (one of which I happen to work for) would not consider it news, for one. They tend to stick to the "normal, politically correct" stuff in order to appear as credible news sources. They think coverage of the "weird" stuff is better suited for cable or other obscure channels. The media coverage that the "Weird" stuff DOES get is often taken out of context to make it appear like entertainment. Thus people are never sure whether to take it seriously or not (we can never tell what's fake or what's real. I think it's  how the media warps and even controls our sense of reality much of the time...
 stuff like that belongs in those black and white newspaper-type magazines..forgot what they're called...they are HILARIOUS  guys know what i'm talking about?
Second Attention, i for one, for the record, believe the story you relate. As lucid dreamers i think we are able to all separate reality from fantasy. We human beings havent even come close to tapping into our true potential. There are miraculous events and strange and bizarre things happening around us every day that defy explanation. It is only those with an open mind and some sense of wonder that are witness to these events and occurrences. I have seen things in real life that were almost as "unreal" as the things i have seen or done or experienced in my dreams. So, again, *shakes your hand*, I believe you. And I smoke pot all the time and have never hallucinated either.
Topic at hand. The Matrix connection to lucid dreaming was obvious to me too. Kewl shit.
Has anyone ever seen the movie Strange Days? Anyone also notice a resemblance to lucid dreaming in the visions that Frodo has in Lord of the Rings.
I wish someone could maike movies of my dreams. There would be so many sequels to TWISTER it would be ridiculous. And MORE Powerful and visceral. I'm babbling, sorry.
damn, i've had so many fuckin tornado dreams it's not right...i don't have them much anymore, i got over my twister-phobia... :D
Hey Paperdoll those mags you talking about are Zines I think, Magazines that some guy makes in his mothers basement :)
Anyway luciddreamer and Second Attention are you guys saying that amazing things happen around us just that our minds are to closed to realize them? If we opened our mind we would see all this amazing stuff much like a lucid dream...
Then again you could of been tripping, but then again you could of been the most sane you've been your intire life...
Anyways Rock on.
nah, they are trippin...

YES!!! ROFL
I thought they were tabloids or something but there pretty funny, my sister got one one time just for fun.
They have stuff like...
Pregnant Mother gives birth to 3 legged alien...
Bigfoot in love with abominable snowman (I don't know how to spell that one word)...
Little baby has amazing karate skills!
Giant spider threatining White house!!
^^^^^^^^^I just made those up.
i wouldn't be surprised if ALL of those have been in there!
(you spelled abominable right) :D
Thanks luciddreamer, at least someone can belive the unexplainable. I don't worry too much, everyone will have something happen to them in life at some point that they won't be able to explain. I think the main difference is some people will blow things like that off on some sort of excuse. Whatever though, I have no idea what that experience meant, it was crazy though. I've experienced many things in life that I cannot explain.
Dreamcoil:
Yes, I am definitely saying that. Awareness is all encompassing, you should try to be more aware in both sleep and the waking world. Dreaming is just more interesting to most people. I wasn't the most sane I've ever been, and god knows when that moment was any ways, but as I stated, I wasn't "trippin", I had just smoked a little ganja. I don't think pot is going to make me and my friend hallucinate the same thing, and that shared hallucination be the only hallucination we ever have on weed. But hey, maybe I'm wrong!
Like I said, it doesn't matter if anyone believes me.
I have said it before, I will say it again
Impossible is only that which has yet to be seen or imagined.
I watched as a swordsman practiced tamishagiri, target practice using rolled bamboo mats (it simulates limbs), I then watched as it was thrust at a Masters chest who was focusing his chi... The sword bent he was fine.
All those stories of people lifting cars when a loved one is trapped, there are too many of em, they do happen, the human body is not capable of doing such an act even with a gallon of adrenalyn pumping through your veins. But it happens, often... how? The mind is set free in that moment of panic, it dosent care about the rules and bends them.
There is a difference from tabloid crap and the real world, you just need to pull the veil back from your eyes to see that the tabloid crap is nothing to what can and does really happen.
Ya......
