This happens to me a lot and I don't understand why.
Sometimes when I wake up, my left arm is still paralysed. I can move the rest of my body but just my arm stays paralysed, completely.
Why does this happen and why is it always my left arm?

Are you sure it's paralyzed, and not just numb from you having slept on it?
It's paralysed. I try to move it and it doesn't move at all. I have to lift it with my other arm.
Sometimes I have the same thing, where one arm is completely nonresponsive, but I am pretty sure that the cause is that the blood circulation was cut off because of my sleeping position. Just because you can't move it at all doesn't mean that it has anything to do with sleep paralysis.
