The question seems to be a bit stupid but people can go to sleep with their eyes open so could it be possible to have a WILD with eyes open.
I mean you would have to train really hard to do this but i was just wondering.

No.
I tend to disagree. I fall asleep probably 30% of the time with an eye partially open. Why? Well my room is perfectly dark. And I mean perfect. There isn't a single ounce of light. I've never succeeded with WILD but I have gotten to sleep paralysis maybe 4 times. At least one of those times, I had my eyes partially open. I'm no expert but I think it would be possible if you had no visual distractions whatsoever, anyway why do you ask?
Yes, you can. I've come close a few times. However, it's only possible when it's really, really dark. In my experience. My eyes have opened during WILD attempts, and even once during the transition phase, so I see no reason why not. It's weird though. It's like being half-in and half-out of a dream...
At this stage of sleep these things are often vague in nature. Is it a perception or are our eyes truly open.
I have had some experiences that I believe that they were open.
Could it have been in part a beginning dream scenario? Quite possible.
Good question.
To find out it would be helpful if you could account for what you has seen. Then concur with an a person who was awake in the same room.
Huh. That's actually a really good point, Howetzer. Yeah, I've had the same. IT was sort of as if my eyes were open, but sort of as if I was seeing through my eyelids. However, I have had experiences where, in the transition phase of the WILD, my eyes have opened and then shut, and I'm pretty sure they did in real-life...
Its just like falling asleep with your eyes open, which I've done before, and I have half WILDed with open eyes, and I have opened my eyes after a WILD. The latter consisted of hallcunations which were similair to SP.
It is possible. Your brain begins cutting the full connection to many of your senses anyways, so it doesnt make an incredible impact to your WILD if you can go to sleep normally with eyes open in the first place.
No.
So I've seen my room while I was in a dream, while I was in sleep paralysis and while I fell asleep. Big deal? No, it's halluscinations. It's a good technique for entering a dream if you're kind of bound to your sleeping location. It doesn't have anything to do with your real eyes though.
Hmm...i disagree....i fall asleep with my eyes open ninety percent of the time. I know i dream this way because my boyfriend has told me so, he can see my eyes moving about. Sometimes i will also talk, as i'm dreaming.
Occasionally he has been able to direct me, so to speak.
Oh the reason i was wondering is because i just wondered plus the fact that one of my sisters friends fell a sleep with her head out the tent with her eyes open and all the leaders there where shocked so it was funny.
Plus i think you can because i've had a dream where my eyes where open and when someon walked by me that happened in my dream.
I don't see why it isn't possible. Yatahaze, perhaps you would like to explain your disagreement on why you believe that it isn't.
Its perfectly possible. It's happened to me, and theres no physiological difference between having your eyes open, or closed, so why should it be impossible open? Hehe :3
I've done it at least once. I was hallucinating, still in my dark room, and then the dream scene just "tore into" my field of vision. Then the dream started, ended, and I was back in my room awake.
I think your missing the point... It doesn't matter what you see through your physical eye, or if you can see through them at all as your going to sleep. The question was whether you can WILD with your eyes open, not if you can WILD while seeing through them.
Well i guess it does eem possible because for your mind to fall asleep you have to close your eyes to get the darkness so your eyes can relax but haveing a pitch black room can imitate it so you can fall asleep just with a pitch black room.
I see no reason on how you can't but there is one probleam though...you might acturly close you eyes without noticing because your eyelids are tied as well. Oh well it could happen haha.
But in all possiblity some people do have their eyes wide open when they are sleeping and if you count how many people are in this world theres a lot of chances it can happen.
So a WILD must be possible to do with eyes open unless you count the fact your eye lids need to be relaxed aswell.
I like WILDing with my eyes open, it let's me know when I've entered my lucid dream. Usually when I do I see things merging and appearing in the walls and such, pretty creepy, but truly is an adventure.
