For a long time, I've wondered what is different about my lucid dreams. Different from reality, I should say. When I'm awake, I have a clear mind just as I'm lucid. But how I experience is entirely different.
I came to the conclusion a while back that since my thinking is so much clearer and more straightforward in dreams, and because I also only have sensations that I specifically imagine, those factors and other similar factors combine to form an impression which is not readily apparent but which completely influences my perception of how the dream is.
At least, that's what I rationally concluded. However, I re-examined this (via introspection) in my last and only recent lucid dream, and this is what I recalled. "I remember that I examined how I felt in the dream, and that I could tell it was a dream because while I didn't feel anything off, the dream world had a texture that definitely existed "outside" my mind, and was something I sensed like I would sense something that's real sensory data, and I knew that was foreign to my waking world's feel which was completely internally meaningful if at all."
In other words, I think that my lucid dream had its own class of sensation, so it wasn't just the synthesis of various necessarily tweaked sensations.
Rationally, everyone shouldn't experience lucid dreams the same way, so tell me, what is the difference that people here have noticed? Do you guys have other thoughts about what makes a lucid experience so vitally different from a waking one? Please, I would like to hear what people's impressions are from their own experiences.
Edit: Also, I hope this poll is okay. By the way, I forgot to take out the word "just" in several of those options--when I realized it would be impractical to do something where people were able to pick multiple options, I decided to make it so you chose the one that was most true, but forgot to take out the word "just".

I would say that lucid dreams are as real as reality. If I live through something "exciting" I remember it the same way as I remember a lucid dream. But there is a difference. While I dream I'm capable of "watching over" everything what happens and my mind sually stays clear. Ok, I'll try to explain...In a lucid dream know what is around me, how I feel, what I think and I can think of all possible alternatives of what happens...and then something happens and I just go along. In real life I decide on what is more important to me at the moment (for example a strong emotion) and my mind/brain usually does not really realise everything. Or if it does it is usually too late because I've already done something in a lucid dream I have the time to think everything over even if it takes like 1 second in that dream reality.
I don't know if this answers your question...but it is the only difference I can think of right now. It happened to me many times that I thought that my lucid dreams were something which happened in reality (how to make a fool of yourself^_~). I remember what happened how it happened but I forgot if it was a lucid dream or a reality.

For me, dreams are really similar to reality, especially lucid dreams, more because of the fact that my dreams normally don't have much to do with.. 'fantasy'. Seriously, my dreams could probaoly be made into a movie with a 50$ budget.
But, isn't it kind of weird that you look at everything as real, it feels real, etc etc, but if your lucid you should know that your NOT in reality.. Hmmm... :hrm:

In my dreams, I don't feel the weather, the wind, and thats pretty much it. Also, in real life, when I think, I will think about 5 things at the same time. The first one will stand out the most, because it is the most important. In this case, it is what I am typing/going to type. The 4 other things are about things I did during the day and what I'm going to post next. The 4 things are more buried in the back of my head, swarming around half like they don't exist. However, in my dreams, these 4 things don't exist. I only think about the most important thing.

I put that my senses encounter different things. For instance, I'd never see Red XIII in real life as I have in dreams. Depending on the dream, it can seem more or less real than real life. Typically my dream self doesn't feel things, or have any perception of my body.

For me there's a huge difference between lucidity and reality. In lucid dreams my mind is clearer, more focused (although if i think too much my dream will end). My senses and emotions differ a lot - I'm more "free" in my dreams (there are absolutely no worries). Also, I'm usually happier because i know i can change everything.
I don't know, it seems the "sense" of reality in lucid dreams is weird, the dream is not like real life, but it tries to seem like it. But I think you could control your dream making it closer to reality.
hmm, and it would be nice to "spin" out of reality sometimes as we do in dreams. :huh2:
