Use Of Nervous System Depressants And Drugs Causing Drowsiness.

I would like to open a discussion about the use of nervous system depressants and drugs causing drowsiness.

Examples including Dimenhydrinate (gravol and anti-nausiant), Diphenhydramine (alergy medicines), DXM (cough syrup), and Cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxant), etc....

1) I would like to know if this will enhance my chance of remembering my dreams?
2) Will it increase the chance of a lucid dream?
3) Are hallucinations considered dreams?
4) What in fact is a hallucinations. Like do you keep dozing off and dreaming OR do you see things realtime during your daily experiences.

I realize this could be quite controversial and is a lot to answer, but everyones help would be nice.

CNS(Central Nervous System) Depressant drugs ...gotta love them if you're a Weirdo like me.
However what they do to Sleep and Dreams is DISASTROUS for vivid and Lucid Dreams:

CNS Depressant drugs may bring you into a nice buzz: BUT they are also known to SUPRESS REM-Sleep: Resulting in less and less vivid and memorable Dreams. In general CNS Depressant drugs Plunge you into a Comatic Sleep. So deep that Dream Recall and Vivid ness are both very unlikely to occur.


In FACT I just had a friend over and together we slammed 5 shot-glasses of Greek Ouzo each: I'm pretty wasted RIGHT NOW so if my post doesn't make any sence you know Ouzo is to Blame ( 35% of alcohol or More? ) Actually I concider Alcohol, and any CSN depressant Drugs as Dream and DreamRecall KILLERS.
In bed you go K.O. and wake up in the morning very dull and Oblivious to what the hell you may have dreamed last night.


However, since I'm Drunk as F*CK right now, I AM going to try and see if Alcohol has any other effects on my Dreams rather than just working REM-sleep-Surpressing.
I'm going to try and Sober out a bit before Going to Bed, since when I go to bed while being Drunk will give me a very Uneasy, Nausious ''Falling sensation'' as soon as I close my eyes.

If it supresses sleep there will be an REM rebound effect if you sleep long enough. REM rebound is beautiful - you may see up a lot of dreams of crystal clarity and vibrant colors back to back. But there's a restless night before that.

I dont know about any CNS depressants except DXM. My first speck of lucidity was caused by being sick, so I had to take antibiotics, cough syrup and something else. I took a bit more than usual, and a bit later smoked a bowl of salvia divinorum :D I was so F.ed up :) But that night I saw 5 dreams back to back and I can still remember them. At the end of 5th dream I for the first time in my life gained awareness in the dream and tried a bit of control. Then I had an FA and woke up.

If you are asking about CNS depressants their hallucinations arent all that cool. If you really wanna see weird stuff try salvia or something illegal :P If you want to know what hallucinations feel like check erowid.org



I'd say that dreams and hallucinations are pretty close but at the same time fundamentally different. You cant get fully absorbed in the hallucination unless you really take a lot of stuff and totally let go of control. This may lead to bad things as most hallucinogens are either illegal or frowned upon.

Whenever i take somthing to help me sleep i always remember having very vivid dreams but i doubt i would help lucid dreams as i am in a very deep sleep

If you want to induce lucid dreams with psychoactive drugs, you got to use psychedelics. High doses of DXM will put you strait out of your body. You can close your eyes and fly over dream cities.

Or you could try Salvia. You may find yourself to be part of a chair and it can get out of control. I know a kid who thought that he was a magical lolly-pop and that all his friends were lolly-pops. I know another person who felt like he was eaten alive.

Acid and mushrooms should do it to, but your best bet is DMT or 5-Meo-DMT. These chemicals are released naturally in the human body and is the cause of the NDE and OBE. It is believed to be the cause of dreams. You smoke it in a light bulb and after your first hit you'll be blasted into extremely alien worlds.
