My mother was watching a marathon on psychics and mediums today and I got drawn in as well. This particular activity caught my imagination. Basically it's gazing into a mirror not at your own reflection though while sitting in a comfortable chair close to the mirror in a dark room. It's claimed to help people see deceased relatives or friends. I couldnt find too much info on it but then again I didn't try too hard so if you want a little history about it go here- http://astralthyme.com/psychomantium.html
I was wondering what would happen if you didn't go into that room with the expectation of seeing the dead but rather just gazing into the mirror? Would you see a whole unknown realm? possibly related to the dream world. I'm not even sure if I believe this because it could very well just be hallucinations or just images while in a deep state of medatation.
Could it be used as a medatation technique? A way of cultivating awareness? I just feel like there should be experiments done with this. What is everyone's take on this? Does anyone have experience with this?
(By the way, I wasn't sure where to put this topic.)

The only psychomantium I've seen was a dimly lit room. The bottom of the mirror was just above head height a few feet away. The mirror reflected a flat black featureless wall. Lights were pretty dim. I'd say a lot less than the 15 watts your link mentioned. Closer to 3 or 4 watts. Like it looks like a dark room until your eyes adjust.
Anyway...
Some say you'll see whatever you need to see. I think it's closer to you'll see whatever you want to see. My own (limited) experience left me with the feeling of something cool going on but I couldn't shake the Green Day lyrics "sometimes my mind plays tricks on me." :)

Reminds me of that Harry Potter mirror from the first movie. I ought try that, although it'd be quite scary.

I think this is probably in the right forum. I wonder, is it a smooth transition or do you experience sensations similar to WILD. It could very well be that you are entering into an LD here.
Someone try it out and be sure to do a reality check. Right now, I don't have time to sit in front of a mirror for hours.. :D
Sounds fascinating though from the meditative and LD aspects. As far as seeing into other realms? Well, just exactly what are these other realms? The world in which you inhabit in a lucid dream can be considered another realm, some believe you travel to a different astral plane, others believe you travel within your mind.
