      Hello Lucid People,
I Often listen to entrancing ambient music to fall asleep to.
I was wondering if more of us do that? And what music they would advise to fall asleep to.

I love Ambient GOA trance music alot. Twilight admosphere it breathes.
Here are some arists and songs in particulair I listen to whilst falling asleep and while sleeping.

VibraSphere [ especially: The Big Sleep, Manzanilla (2005 mix), 33000 feet over ]
      Sphongle
Enya [ especially: Caribbean Blue, Bouddicae ]
Amon Tobin [ especially: Dream Sequence, Penthouse ]
etc. I'll enter more artists/songs here later. Gotta go take a shower now

Please share with us your favourite ambient music to fall asleep to.

Sphongle a Mindfuck? well defenitely not to me. I find it very calming and helps me get into ''Night-mode'' when I can't get no sleep again due to my Insomnia.

I second Enya, and I also like Andrew Bird for dreaming. Along with anything instrumental and much of the stuff from the 60s.

Enya is wonderfull, Definitely the most Mellow Celtic Music ever. Dan Brown also makes such perfect Meditative Celtic Ambient Sounds. Thought he'd be worth Mentining. I know a Dutch Celtic band named Omnia who make some nice Celtic melodies too. I love playing Celtic folk on my Synthesizer. I'm going to look for a brand new Synthesizer today with better samples of Strings, Chellos, Piano...etc It'll be just great for Playing&Recording the best Ambient, Celtic Music. I'll post it in the '' Calling All Musicians''-Topic once it's done.

I'm also a big fan of ambient music! In fact, I was thinking of making a thread about this even before my account was cleared My collection is big enough to suit almost every mood I'm in, but it will never be big enough ^^. I have amonst others Makyo, Solar Fields, Asura, Ishq, Padmasana, Puff Dragon and lots more... though I reckon these names won't ring a bell with the majority of you since they are quite unknown. I also have a lot of mixed sets, compilations and more albums (includig a 4-hour (re)mixed set aptly named "Lucid Dreams" ^^ it contains many artists, including shpongle and ishq ). Since I'm not particularly fond of most mainstream ambient music, mostly for its simplicity, I am always on the lookout for unknown ambient artists! I have some tips on where to get some of the ambient music I listen to but since I don't really know DV's opinion on exchanging download sources, I'll just stick to offering my msn address to anyone who is interested in exchanging some songs =)

Oh yeah, I also have about 15 gig of goa and psytrance if anyone's interested. As well as 120 gig more of all kinds of other music. I'm always in to try new music! So don't hesitate to take my offer ^^

      - Thom

p.s.: Yo SKA Dutch pride world wide!

      p.p.s: Shpongle rules!

I used to fall asleep listening to death metal No serously, i did. Nile no less (a very heavy, "brutal" band). But i don't think that's ideal for most people. The last time i fell asleep with music on i was listening to Loreena McKennitt's album "The Book of Secrets". Some fantastic music right there! Unfortunately i can't find the CD anymore I'll have to go get it again.

Loreena Mckennit makes great music. Maybe you know a trak of her's called ''The Mystic's Dream'' It's really great.
Sigur Ros. Wasn't that the band with the Flutist as lead? I really love that. My dad owns an album of them.

PS: I find it easy to fall asleep to almoste verything, worst it will do is take me some more time to fall asleep. I used to fall asleep and wake up again to System of a Down - Steal this album!

Yeah i've got that track. The best one of hers i've heard is "Huron 'Beltane' Fire Dance" though, which is one of my favourite songs ever. Not necessarily sleeping music, but it's fantastic. Most of her music is so relaxing though that you could easily fall asleep to it.

Not sure if you mean Sigur Ros or Jethro Tull. I'm not that familiar with Sigur Ros, although i do have a handful of tracks. Jethro Tull are a great 70s prog rock band though, and the lead singer (Ian Anderson) plays flute. Not sure if Sigur Ros have a flutist as well *shrugs*

andorf, Yes! I love that new David Gilmore album.

Theres some good REM stuff I fall asleep to sometimes, 'At My Most Beautiful' and 'Nightswimming' are both great.

      Radioheads great.

Every one should buy Steve Vai's album 7th Songs. Very slow and relaxing.

My favorite is 'Flying in a Blue Dream' by one of the greatest guitarest of all time, Joe Satriani

I think Evanescence is great. Amy Lee has a very angelic and soothing voice. Try out My Immortal (Piano ONLY version).

Radioheads OK, I like "Talk Show Host". It's also from Romeo + Juliet (1996) with Leonardo DiCapitated.
