alright,
i suppose this question is for all the highschool students who cant really sleep in more then 6 or 7 hours because of being retarded teenagers and such (im not saying that other people get that much sleep either but you know what i mean). i cant seem to ever even remember my dreams during the school year. is there anyone out there that does high school or wakes up early and goes to bed pretty late and still have lucid dreams and stuff? alright peace.

You think you got it bad in high school? Wait till college

In high school I used to sleep ~10 hrs a day straight right now I sleep anywhere between 5-9 hrs + naps (sometimes)...

it's really hard to lucid dream if your sleep scheddule is irregular.

I was just about the say that. When school starts up, weekends are my only chance for lucids. You highschoolers don't even know what a real messed up sleep schedule is like Though college students do get a month off at winter... and four months off during the summer... so it all makes up in the end.

I cant wait for college, but right now Highschool is brutal.

I need to factor in 6 hours of guitar and mandolin practice + homework...

I need to find a pattern to get lucid.. I dont think I'm going to though... there just isnt enough time in the day anymore....

It gets worse...wait until you get a job and it's really hard and stressful and there are never semester or summer breaks for the rest of your life... until you retire or die...

I'm really worried about that too! Last year was a total chaos! Woke up at seven, in order to arrive at school at eight. Arrived home at half past three so as to start homework at four, which lastet til ten (including dinner and small breaks). And then another two hours of "fun", computer and/or redaing.
Now, there's the 11th grade - which is said to be the hardest one, extra maths classes, extra informathics and extra chemistry and biology for me as I want to get into Med School. I guess no more computer for me this year, and I'll have to cut some sleeping time too, to have time to write my dreams in my DJ (it takes me about 30-45 minutes )
Good luck to all you high school and college students and Moonbeam!

Made up my mind to make a new start,

I'm just kidding. It gets a lot better. There are good things about being in school but I'm glad I'm done and I think most people are. When you get done you just have to arrange your life how you want it and remember your priorities.

lol. This thread seems to be more of a complain-fest than an attempt for a solution. I am in the 11th grade and I have the same problem. I decided after LDing last week (which hadn't happened in a while) that LDing and dream recall is to important to jeopardize just because of school, extra-curricular activities, etc. So I divised a plan. I'm just starting it now, and it's hard if you're lazy, but I'm thinking that atleast for me, it'll work.

Pretty much, I'm going to try to go to sleep at about 11 each day, (instead of my random 1, 2, or 3 AMs. lol) and to tell myself I'll remember my dreams and LD, etc., before I fall asleep. Just that in itself always tends to greatly increase my recall. Then, on the weekends, I bring out the big guns by trying to WBTB each night (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). I'm guessing that after a few weeks of that everything will be fine. I don't usually do stuff with friends much on weekdays, since I have a bunch of stuff to do, so I have no problem with this arrangement. Dunno, maybe it will work for some of you.

I usually get about 7 hours because I gotta wake up at 6:30. I can usually get in 1 dream. I'm still working on getting the lucid part in. I can't wait till I can get my schedual down to about 4 classes then I can wake up at 9.

I think going to bed at 12:00AM or later to turn around and get up at 5:30 to make the bus counts as a pretty crappy schedule, and I am in HS. If you are like me you learn how to sleep in class, unfortunatly my hearing has started to go south, so I have to sit in the front now. But if you take a bus have one of your buddies keep an eye on you and your stuff while you snooze. My friend and I do this, we have some pretty mean kids on our route. I have never had an LD on the bus, as I found out about LDing this summer, but I have had many hours of sleep on the bus.

Afternoon naps can be good too, I used to ubersleep, and had a nap as soon as I got home. I would have very vivid dreams then. Ubersleeping tends to maximize REM sleep, but for me it was extremely hard to keep with the schedule, as our family goes on a good number of trips. I would have to readjust during school, which sucked.

yeah alright
i understand all you college people, but i wasnt really saying you guys arent busy, just directed it more to the people in highschool who might be going through the same things. for example today i woke up at 6 30 and got home at 9 30 (football is brutal). how can i do all my homework and all that stuff and still have time for dreaming? i really can only have one or 2 long dreams at the most in the night. does anyone have anything constructive to add?

Well, to be honest I find that when I believe I have enough time, I have plenty. However, when I rush to do something I can not seem to find time.

You need to remember that time simply does not exist. Understand that time is just the remembrance of the past and the thought of the future. Present is instantaneous so therefore is has no period of delay. If you concentrate on the present and focus your attention one thing, you will find that you can get much more done than if you constantly thought time to be a bunch of numbers on a clock.

Try to eliminate reference to time and start working off your own schedule. However, make sure your schedule includes school.

Also, just something to look at that I find very interesting; look up Schumann Resonance on Google and see what you find. I think you will be very interested. Here is a quick reference link Schumann Resonance

I have found that the single most important thing you can do to aid your dreaming is take the extra time to write your dreams down. For me, this usually takes 20-30 minutes, and although I often wish I could spend the extra time relaxing in bed before starting on a busy day, its almost always worth it. To speed things up a bit, keep your DJ on the computer - typing is a lot faster than writing.

And heres a bonus time-management tip: stay focused on what you're trying to accomplish at any given time. If your doing homework, don't let anyting distract you. Just get prepared, the focus on your task. Whenever I find myself wasting time while trying to accomplish something, its either because I got sidetracked, or I wasn't ready.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

One good thing is, even if your sleep time is short, your REM time should be the same, because the brain has to get its REM or it malfunctions. So you should dream the same amount. I know it is hard to find the time to write them down and do the necessary thinking about lucidity, RC's, incubation, etc. tho when you're busy.

I never get more than 5-6 hours of sleep a night, sometimes 7 hours if I'm lucky. I have to get up at 6:30 every day like a lot of other people (because for some reason, sports people are very resistant to moving the school start time forward, even thought it would be hugely beneficial to everyone, especially me and my lucid dreaming). My advice is to try and do your homework in study halls if you've got any, and do it with focus and no distractions if possible while doing it at home so it gets done quicker, and just stay focused on your goal of getting to bed earlier.

so far i've been getting average 6 hours, and i don't usually even do my homework at home. don't get any recall those days. (have to wake up 6:10) i have to improve my lucid ability so i can actually want to go to sleep early, but i don't know how i'd do that besides weekends. i didn't think about lds at all during the summer.
my ultimate goal would probably be to go polymorphic, and sleep during the free period at school.
Do you know where you are?

School Starts for me Sept. 6th now the thing is... I figure you could do a CAT or Cycle Adjustment Technique basically its for peple w/ regular sleep cycle. You goto bed the same time everynite basically during the school year. Of course in my case as soon as you remember dreaming your alarm clock goes off and u have to fet rdy for school.

DIRECTIONS
For one week, go to bed at the same time each night and get up 90 minutes earlier than you usually do. Spend those 90 minutes doing reality checks every 2–5 minutes.
Thereafter, on alternate days: follow the routine from step one, and set the intention to do your reality check routine at its regular time, while getting a full night sleep. This will cause the reality check conditioning to kick in during REM primetime.

Remember you also have to condition yourself (wake up 90 minutes earlier and do RC's) for the first 8 days.

Its hard but you can do it... If u do not want to... Do MILD but set in your mind wat you want to do... Over the course of the day. That way if say you have a test... I can cover it in your dreams... Actually study for your test to... Jus glance it over than you'll dream about it...

Another solution is to take afternoon naps for 1.5-2 hours. That's generally long enough to dream, and i've had some great lucid dreams in afternoon naps. This is, of course, if you have the time for that.

Its very tricky to balance out: School, Work and Dreaming(Recording and Getting).
