Pretty much yeah. Some say that it/he/she is your subconscious mind. It is supposed to be as smart as a normal person, not like DC's normally act. There are a lot of other topics about DG's. I suggest you do a search or wait for someone to post some links.

Dreamguides (or DGs) are usually summoned when you call for them - not that I've ever had one - and are supposed to help you in the "dream realm". Some people would consider them to be nothing more than you helping yourself, but others think DGs are actually spirits or something. I guess it depends on your perspective.

Spiritual or not, people use them to help be "pulled" out of nightmares and basically be assisted in their dream. I guess you don't really need them, but some people find it helps. That and a companion is always fun.

EDIT: That's basically where the DGs (dreamguides) on Dreamviews came from. The definition of a dreamguide could basically be "friendly helper", and, well, there you go.

Actually they come in a few varieties.

The Old Alchemist will give you good technical advice.

The Oracles will give you cryptic and ambiguous guidance that will keep you thinking for years.

Oh, the same with the Angels... it takes a great deal of thinking to decide what they mean.

The Goddesses... or any Female Guide will tend to Point the Way to what is next.

Male Guides don't point the way but help to consolidate your progress to whereever you now happen to be.

Who is a guide and who is just a Dream Character. Generally, if they speak to you in context to your life, and seem to be more than just a Dream Character, then they are a guide. If they can Fly, then they are more than just an ordinary earthbound dream character. If they have The Light then they are on the Spiritual Side.

One of my favorites was Old Prophet Elijah and the Cave of Prayers. In my young years before I was so selfassured and needed consolation I would find myself in that Cave of a Thousand Candles with the rough hewn stone walls black with the soot of ages of candle smoke. That old Man always had something wise and comforting.

But, still, you cannot go forward until a Goddess Oracle points the way, and so they may be the most important. But then again, you cannot go forward until you are ready, and that is where the Instructive Old Gurus come in.

so there is not just one Dream Guide. There is a whole Team up there... in there.

Would you tell us somethings he said? I have always been fascinated by Guides, Angels and Beings of Light and I can't remember what my Spirit Guide said to me when i summoned him last time (first and only time).
