i learned how to LD here but,but when i had my first LD,i had really good controle
Well, I had my first lucid, which lasted about 4-8 minutes, only the second day after learning it, and proceded to have about two-four a month. So, I guess I had some inept talent.
I've been having LDs for as long as I can remember. Usually Lucidity struck me when I most needed it: In nightmares that were just too unnerving to handle: Good thing to suddenly realise it is only a Dream and being able to Conciously and Deliberately awaken from these nightmares.
Only later when I read about Lucid Dreaming on the web I recognised the phenomenon and trained myself back into the old natural habbit quite succesfully.
I see there are many Natural Lucid dreamers here. But also for me: My dreamrecall had been whiped out for YEARS due to extreme stress.
I HAD to learn/train to get back into it, but had the luck that I was alredy an experienced natural lucid dreamer. It's kind of when you have the ''feel'' for Music you'll have less trouble learning to play a New Instrument than someone who doesn't.
But I find it great to see that alot of Lucid Dreamers really managed to LEARN dreaming Conciously without natural ability and previous experience:
It really shows that it is accesable to anyone, provided he or she is fully comitted to it and serious about it.
I managed to interrest some of my Friends in Lucid Dreaming telling them stories of the weirdest, greatest things I experienced in Lucid Dreams. they're like ''Well if you become Lucid, wouldn't you immediately go and do something way cool??'' And I'm like:'' hellyeah, I went flying, seeing people, checking out the scenery..amazing stuff really''
They seem very interrested by the Idea of the Immense infinite freedom it gives, but are still far from motivated on learning it themselves or getting more into it.
I know some people who really are interrested in Lucid Dreaming, they are the same people that I often do meditation Sessions with; Openminded folks: My people, I love them :)
But this just shows that this infinite freedom, this virtual Surreal and bizarre and amazing world is accesable to anyne who is willing to put effort in it.
I might show this Topic to some of my friends. :)
LEARNT???
I have spontaneous Lucid dreams maybe twice a month. Other than that, you could consider me a lucid dreaming poster child. I am proof that anyone can learn to LD and usually have to work hard for mine.
I guess that means I appreciate them more, right? :D
I have been having Lucid Dreams since I was a little kid, however I thought it was normal and everyone experienced the same thing. I still can remember mostly when I would have bad dreams when something would chase me in my dreams I would always escape out of the dream environment by closing my eyes very tight and shaking my head left and right and this would be my way of waking myself up.
I've had spontanious LD's since I was about five years old. I never understood much about them or knew what it was possible to do in LD's. I didn't even know that they were called Lucid Dreams because I had no idea that they were something that happened to everyone.
It was about 7 years ago that I heard them mentioned on a movie (can't remember which one), I realised that there were probably more people who could do this, and I looked into it. My mum told me that she had LD's as well, she told me that you can do whatever you want in these dreams, but I didn't really think that this included flying and materialising anything out of thin air though. I've had less and less spontanious LD's since I found out more about them :( .
Before knowing what lucid dreaming was, I would often have lucid dreams on the weekend because I would easily sleep 12 hours. This was probably 2 years ago. Lucidity would always be attained from me being naked in public, which was one of my biggest fears. I didn't have control, since I never knew you could actually control dreams, but it was pretty cool swearing at people who were laughing at me for being nude
Unfortunately the weekend would usually be the only time I remembered dreams. My recall was about 8 a month. About twice I had Back-To-Back (one on Saturday morning, one on Sunday morning) lucid dreams. I loved having them.
Eventually, as I got older, I started going to sleep later and forcing myself to wake up early. My original fear of being naked in public dwindled, as I realized how stupid it was. No more LD's, and my recall fell down to 4 dreams a month.
One fatefull night, I realized one thing I always wanted to do, control my dreams. I've always wanted to do it, but didn't know for sure if it was possible, and I never had the initiative to find the info. Well, at around 10, 11 PM on a school night of course, I was up on my computer. I searched google for "Learn to Control your Dreams" and DreamViews was the first thing. The first night again I had 0 recall, but the second I had a spontaneous lucid dream, where I had a little bit of control (partially managed to change the dream scene with dream spinning). A week later, another lucid hit, again spontaneous. A week later, another lucid, this time from realizing something was wrong. I managed a lucid a week, until August, where I usually managed 2 lucids in 3 nights. Most of my lucids had no control, but now I can do basic things like summon objects. My recall is about 2 dreams a night.
I'm no natural at dream control, but I'm pretty sure I'm a slight natural at getting lucid (whatever, it's negated by the fact that my mind needs to wander to fall asleep which limits most techniques, lack of control, it takes a long time to fall asleep, and lack of vividness).
Cool. Thanks. that filled in the gap in my knowledge
i've been lucid dreaming ever since i can remember it may be because my mum gets up at 5:30 to go to work somtimes i got woken up and other i woke so i could talk to her i usally had lucid them but took them for granted now im trying to have them at will once a week im still working on it :)
Honestly, I expected that at least 70% of the people would have said they learned to lucid dream. I thought the main page said that some people were born with this ability, while most other people had to work for this.
That's funny. Whenever I would have a bad dream as a Child I would realise it was only a dream and then put my fingers on my eyes, index fingers on the upper eyelids, thumbs on the lower eyelids, and ''Open up my eyes'' with my Fingers. Strange because in the Dream my eyes were allready open, but by doing that ''opening my eyes'' trick I always ended up waking up from the bad dream. Sometimes it lead to False Awakenings too.
I remember one night very long ago having had a dream with 3 false awakenings and allmost constant lucidity throughout the dream. I dreamt I was in the Metro and some bad guys were after me. I got out at the first stop and immediately realised it was but a Dream: Gained Lucidity. I did the ''Open my Eyes'' wake up-trick and woke up in my room. I got out of bed and walked through the door. There was a bead-curtain in front of my door; Which I actually don't really have, su I thought'' Damn! I'm not awake yet, I'm still dreaming. Lucid again. Went into my mom&dad's bedroom and it was very grizzly dark. SUDDENLY I was in some sort of albanian/balkan mountain village with some bad guys after me again. And I remember sitting on a terrace talking to an old aqaintance of mine while drinking some orange juice. Suddenly the bad guys found me and I jumped over a railing down a VERY deep cliff. As I fell to my Death I suddenly woke up. I got out of bed and walked out of my room: I suddenly found myself in an underground metro station thinking:'' awww, MAN! I'm STILL Dreaming!''
After that I actually awoke and still wasn't quite sure that this wasn't another dream again :| WEIRD :P
I was often able to awake myself from a nightmare as a child but never had full blown control like I do now
i had my first lucid on the day about hearing that lucid dreaming even existed....and i never have nightmares, none that i couldnt handle atleast, the earliest one that i can remember was being chased by a werewolf, and i drop kicked him down the stairs...
I have been having lucid dream snice I was 7 or 8
But I did not know It has name untill I have joined this web :content:
This sounds strange but I only seem to have nightmares when I sleep on my left side
