we need a moderator

Hey all,

When I first started this forum I was hoping to be able to devote more time to reading and answering posts. Sadly, that is simply not the case because I have too many other obligations. I've also been meaning to update the site itself with a lot more helpful information relating to lucid dreaming, but just can't seem to find the time right now.

Anyway, I would like to find a moderator to help watch over the board, answer questions whenever possible, and generally help maintain some level of civility. Please reply here if interested. I'll try to choose someone in a couple weeks.

Ummmm, Maybe not,

Ummm with all due respect, I dont think Paperdoll fits the exact uhhhh model of a moderator, (Moderators, Prevent problems, not cause them)
Sorry if that was Blunt.

I'm not saying that I'm the man for the Job, but if you feel that I am the One, then I'd love to.

P.S. I think this is a great idea Icedawg

P.S.S. maybe you can have the Members vote on a Mod ice, that way the people have who they think would be best. ( I Mean, no offense but you don't exactly spend alot of time on here :( ) Anyways, Thats just what I think.

I can be a moderator.

I don’t remember a time where I caused problems (except when I said I go on raping sprees in dreams, I only meant I just have sex a lot that’s all, not rape... I cant help my sex drive which will enslave me till I die :cry: ).

I also am here a lot, and have had MOD'ing experience.

Thanks for the suggestion. This was actually a spur of the moment idea, after I read a particular thread--which is now locked--that I felt greatly surpassed the intended scope of this forum, and was succeeding not at informing anyone, but instead causing animosity. Discussing beliefs is fine--although outside this forum's scope--but arguing beliefs is a fool's errand. Our beliefs are instilled within us as we experience life, and a message forum isn't going to change that.

Anyway, I'll accept nominations for a week or so and then create a poll. I'm still not completely sold on the idea of selecting a moderator at all, because I have no idea who is capable of monitoring the forum w/o resorting to a dictatorship.

I don't think we need a mod, I think that we're all ok now. Things got out of hand, I agree. Some people might still trying to be instigators, but... it's hard not to say ANYTHING about your beliefs when your discussing something as personal as your dreams. I think we should all just try and remember to be nice. It is JUST a forum, and holds no real precedence in any of our lives, except the wonderful exchange of ideas that happens here. I personally would like to continue this exchange of ideas, and hopefully not have it be limited because some of us(including me) got out of hand. But that's just my opinion, I have nothing to do with the site, and I support icedawg in any decision he makes.

I certainly don't want to discourage the exchange of ideas at all. From the start I had wanted a moderator, but at the time the board had almost no users, so it was essentially pointless. Although it's still a relatively small board, and has been running quite well on auto-pilot since I put it up in June, I can imagine future problems might yet arise (such as personal attacks, etc.) Plus, I think some people just may feel a little more comfortable knowing someone is perusing the posts and looking out for the best interests of everyone. I'm not going to present the selected moderator with a list of topics that will not be tolerated; instead, he or she will simply be asked to help keep the peace.

Sounds like a good idea icedawg, as I stated before, you have my full support. Flame wars are lame, and your right that the potential for those starting here is there(as it is everywhere). Moderators are cool, as long as they have the time to check stuff and the ability to not be too biased or get involved in crap.

I dont think we need one that bad but yes when we start getting a larger user base it could be nessesary, even still I dont think the need to regulate would arise often which is nice.

I wouldent mind, being a mod =). Besides It would give me something to do at work hehe. I am told I am a fairly balanced person, although I think I tend to lean to my left, and I try to see things from all perspectives.

My take

My take on the canadites are.

I believe Paperdoll could do the job. She does post alot.

I want serinath to win because he gets attacked by Demons and is very experinced in Lucid Dreaming(although i do disagree with his name).

I also nominate Evangel without his permission *Shhh*. He does post replys and pms ppl from time to time.

Oh yeh, Ice i like the stars. Sure would do look kool on ___. I also want to know how often YOU have LDs. Are you experinced?

I feel any 1 you assigh the job to beside Wasup (sorry man), would step up to plate and do a good job

As for wanting me to win thats cool and all , I appreciate your sympathy regarding the shadows, its not all monsters and demons in my dreams, I have many that are incredible jaunts of exploration too. Just last night I explored a mountain range, climbed up one of the mountains through a valley and found a temple carved out of the rock itself, it was breath taking. There were four figures there, An :bowdown: angelic woman of insurmountable beauty, a Dragon, a silver man that kinda reminded me of the silver surfer but not, and a large burly hairy guy in armour, like giant dwarf :cheers: . They of course said some really important stuff to me, and of course I dont have the foggiest as to what it was they said :| well anyways Im glad you find my info usefull :banana: :mrgreen:

Depends completely on your definition of "moderator." We certainly don't need someone getting involved in all topics, directing all conversations, and preventing even the tiniest disputes. Instead, the moderator's job will consist mostly of moving topics that aren't in the right forum to where they belong, deleting double posts (sometimes someone accidentally posts the same reply twice, as I just saw earlier today in this thread), trying to keep disruptions/post-whoring down, and providing general help whenever I'm not available.

Not neccesarly serinaths going to win. It could be like our elections. al gore won the popular votes (meaning he got the majoirty of american votes) but bush won 1 because of the electorial votes.
